Early definition of emasculation involves white slave owners who sought to enslaved African American boys and men by castration and denying them the right to wear pants during slavery. It was an attemt to feminize and humiliate enslaved males on a daily basis. Traditional norms of masculinity are understood as a combination of strength, aggression, and emotional toughness. Which leads to the the modern definition Emasculate: deprive of his male role or identity; make weaker or less effective.
