USD 348 Teacher Features

This episode we're joined by Jean Widener, a 3rd grade teacher at BESIC. Mrs. Widener shares with us her passion for education, what it's like to be on a new grade-level team, the reasons she's focusing a little more on social-emotional learning and 21st Century skills this year, and some of her class's writing projects. It was so much fun talking to Jean about how she got into teaching, and listening to her talk about her students, and we hope you enjoy it, too!

We speak this week with another teacher new to our district, 9-year veteran Rachel Naughtin. Mrs. Naughtin gives us a look into her choir classes at Baldwin High and Junior High, how performances have been different this semester, and how she and her students make the best of a less-than-ideal situation.

We catch up with Jamie Dennis, a first grade teacher at Baldwin Elementary School Primary Center and talk about the start of the school year, classroom projects, and what it's like to teach 1st graders this year. 

In this episode, we talk with Cameron Schneider, 8th grade social studies teacher at Baldwin Junior High. Schneider and his class recently had the chance to talk to some students in Norway who stayed up at school following the election results in the United States. Schneider talks about the experience, the positive power of social media, and the importance of connecting with others. 

Our first USD 348 Teacher Feature is BESIC's Bailie Hughes sharing her "Spooktacular Writing" project. I had so much fun listening to Bailie share her story! She shared a fun writing tip (SWAG sentences), talked about student voice & choice, and might have the sweetest students. Calling for a warm heart, STAT!
