Youth Empowerment School reflections

by Charles Snyder

This is a series of conversations between former students and colleagues of mine at Oakland's Youth Empowerment School, which was closed down in 2011 by OUSD. The conversations are meant to be personal while also drawing to the surface many of the challenges that lay under the banner term of systemic racism. This is not your made for Hollywood movie, this is a deeper dive into dissecting the blueprint of a machine that's designed to fail.
