100% Awesome Podcast

by April Price

You might not know it, but every result in your life is 100% because of the thoughts you think. This is very good news because it means that changing our thoughts can change everything else. This podcast provides practical ways to gain awareness of your current thoughts and then deliberately choose the ones you want in order to improve every area of your life. The way things are is not the way things have to stay. And that my friends, is 100% awesome.

Episode 225: Life and Death and the Love In Between

29m · Published 24 Aug 04:00

We live in a world of opposition. For every one of us, the fact that we are alive means that we will someday die. And when we choose to love someone, it means that we are inevitably also choosing loss and grief. This is what it means to be human.

Our lives contain the possibility for so much joy and happiness and connection, but all of these experiences are really only available because the possibility of loss also exists. How do we make peace with that? And how do we dare love when loss is inextricably linked with that choice?

In a very personal episode of the podcast, today I’m sharing my recent experiences with love and loss and what I’ve learned about life and death that have made me way more intentional and committed to choosing more love more of the time.

Episode 224: Feeling Abundant

28m · Published 17 Aug 04:00

Our brain like to tell us that we don’t have enough. They point out that we don’t have enough time or money or energy or love. They are constantly scared about running out and not having what we need.

But what if we can’t actually run out of the things we need? What if there is always more not just available to us but always coming to us? What if abundance is the truth and scarcity is the lie?

In today’s podcast, I’m giving a new way to think about abundance in your life and the simple thing that you can do to create more of what you want and move from feelings of scarcity to abundance in any area of your life.

Episode 223: Developing Emotional Mobility

33m · Published 10 Aug 04:00

Right now, in the physical health space, there’s a big push to improve and increase mobility. The idea is that the more mobility you have, the more ability you have to do the things you want to do with your body. If you can’t move your body the way you want to, it can create limitations.

In the same way, the more mobility we can develop in our emotional lives—the more strength and flexibility and ability to feel and move with our emotions—the more experiences and choices become available and the greater the quality of our life.

Do you have the emotional ability to experience all the things you want in your life? Are you strong? Are you flexible? Can you move through all the experiences of your life without shutting down or numbing out?

In today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing the best tools to help you develop more emotional mobility so you can have more freedom, peace, and confidence as you experience all the emotions of your life.

Episode 222: A Case for Quiet

35m · Published 03 Aug 04:00

One of the hardest things to come by these days is quiet, especially inside our own heads. We live in a world where it’s now possible to have a nearly constant stream of other voices, entertainment, distraction, and noise vying for our attention and taking up the space in our minds.

This leaves very little time or space to listen to own thoughts and process our human experience. Over time this impacts our mental fitness, makes us more anxious, reduces our attention spans, erodes our relationship with ourselves, and muffles our emotions. Unless we purposefully cultivate time for solitude and quiet, we can end up dramatically reducing our quality of life.

In today’s podcast episode I’m making a case for increasing the amount of quiet and solitude in your life and giving you some thoughts and ideas on how to be a more conscious consumer of the noise in your life and become the unfailing protector of your own attention.

Episode 221: Advice for the Newlyweds

33m · Published 27 Jul 04:00

My daughter is getting married in a couple of weeks and as I have anticipated this big event in her life and the creation of her new family, I have thought a lot about the things that make an awesome marriage and the things I wish I would have known when I got married.

Every marriage (and every relationship) requires work to be happy and successful, but for the most part, most of us are trying to make our marriages better by doing the wrong kind of work. The work we need to do is always in our own minds and hearts and examining our own thoughts and feelings.

Today on the podcast, I’m sharing eight things that I think every newlywed should know and whether you are brand new at marriage or have been married for decades, these thoughts will make every marriage more awesome.

Episode 220: Secrets to Transformation

27m · Published 20 Jul 04:00

For most of us, transforming and changing our lives can feel impossible and out of reach. But that’s only because when we think about transformation, we tend to focus our attention on big changes that are made in a very small amount of time.

But it turns out that the smallest changes that often go overlooked are the ones that make the biggest impact in transforming our lives.

In today’s podcast episode I’m sharing the biggest secrets to real transformation and sharing the hidden levers that will allow you to create the biggest changes in your life.

Episode 219: Thoughts about Your Summer Body

35m · Published 13 Jul 04:00

No matter what time of year it is, most of us have a lot of negative thoughts about our bodies. We’ve been told in countless ways that our bodies are not acceptable as they are, that they need fixing, and that we should be deeply ashamed of them.

This is especially true during the summer. Since the early 60’s, the idea of getting a “summer body” has purposely made us feel inadequate, implying that if we’re not toned, tanned, fit and ready for the summer, there is something wrong with us and our bodies. And for many of us, this anxiety and shame is causing us to miss out on some of the best moments of life.

In today’s podcast, I’m talking about how easy it is to believe the thoughts that say your body isn’t acceptable (in the summer or anytime!) and sharing thoughts and tools to help you see your body in a whole new way.

Episode 218: Things I’ve Learned from Taylor Swift

33m · Published 06 Jul 04:00

Today’s podcast episode is a fun one! This seems to be the year of Taylor Swift and, along with all the other Taylor Swift fans, I have spent a lot of time over the last few months following her Era’s tour and relistening to all her albums.

Taylor Swift is arguably one of the most popular and successful single music artists on the planet—and yet, she is also still a human being with a human brain. And watching the way she makes choices in her life and puts her work out into the world, despite whatever fears or insecurities her brain might have, is inspiring and one of the things I appreciate most about her.

But that’s not all!

In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing some of the things I admire most about Taylor Swift and the biggest lessons that I have learned by watching her because I think there are applications for all of us who want to live a rich, full life.

Episode 217: How to Make Everything More Fun

26m · Published 29 Jun 04:00

Brain’s don’t want to have fun. They want to save energy and protect us from threats. They keep us safe by noticing how hard things are and so even when we’re doing things we want to do, we can still feel a lot of negative emotion about it.

This week’s podcast episode is a continuation of our discussion last week on play and today we’re talking all about fun. How do we have more fun not just when we’re playing, but in all the areas of our life?

Fun is not created by the things we do; it is created by the things we think. And so if we’re going to have more fun, we have to understand the thoughts that are keeping us from feeling it. On today’s podcast I’m sharing the things that make it hard to have fun so that no matter what you’re doing, you can have as much fun as you want.

Episode 216: Time to Play

35m · Published 22 Jun 04:00

The benefits of play are well-documented. It is an important part of our mental and emotional health, but too often we trivialize or overlook it’s vital role in our lives. For most of us, play comes last, after everything else, or often, not at all.

But this is the time of year when we traditionally go on vacation, have more relaxed schedules, and allow ourselves to spend more time playing and it’s a good time to reevaluate how much play there is in your life and bring your awareness to the things that are keeping you from letting yourself play.

Today’s podcast episode is the first of a 2-part podcast series on play and fun and how to have more of both of them in our lives. Your brain is only concerned about survival, but if you want to do less surviving and more thriving, making play an intentional pursuit in your life will help you do that.
