Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson travel to Herefordshire to help Scotland Yard Inspector Lestrade solve a case brought to Holmes by a young woman named Alice Turner. The father of the man she loves has been murdered at Boscombe Pool, and his son has been accused and jailed for the crime. After visiting the crime scene and talking to the young man in prison, James McCarthy, Holmes knows who the murderer is and gives the inspector a description of him without revealing the man's name. Holmes then invites the killer, John Turner (Alice's father), to his hotel and gets a signed confession from the man. It turns out that Turner and the murdered Charles McCarthy, who both came from Australia, had ties based on a terrible secret from the past. Turner had been a notorious criminal in Australia, and McCarthy has been blackmailing him for years to keep the information secret. When he pushed the blackmail beyond monetary demands to the demand that Alice marry James, Turner snapped. However, he is very ill and only has a few months to live, so Holmes does not turn him over to Scotland Yard. Instead, at James's trial he establishes reasonable doubt and James is then free to marry Alice.

A young woman named Mary Sutherland is tricked into keeping her inheritance under the control of her stepfather and mother in a cruel case of deception. Her controlling stepfather, James Windibank, disguises himself as a man named Hosmer Angel. Mary falls in love with this mysterious man and pledges to remain true to him no matter what. On the day they are supposed to be married, Angel disappears. When Sherlock Holmes figures out the scam, he doesn't have the heart to break it to the woman, but he threatens violence on Windibank and tells Dr. Holmes that he believes the man will soon turn to a life of crime.

The story begins with Watson dropping in on Sherlock Holmes only to be roped in to listen to a red-haired man tell Holmes and Watson the interesting facts of recent events surrounding him. The man is a Mr. Jabez Wilson, an owner of a local pawnshop who is interested in having Holmes solve a mystery of his. Sometime before this, Wilson, who was working in his shop at the time, heard from his assistant, Vincent Spaulding, about a group known as the Red-Headed League.

In “A Scandal in Bohemia,” the Bohemian King enlists Holmes to recover a salacious photograph of him in the company of Irene Adler, a famous opera singer. If this photo is exposed, it will ruin the King’s chances of marrying the King of Scandinavia’s daughter. Holmes disguises himself at Adler’s wedding to her true love, coyly locating the hidden photograph in the process. When Holmes returns with the King to obtain the photo, they learn Adler has fled the country with the photo. Adler leaves behind a self-portrait for the King, but he gives it to Holmes as a souvenir.

When Peter understands that Wendy has grown up, he begins to cry, and his sobs wake Jane. She asks him why he is crying, just as Wendy once asked him, and they become fast friends. When Wendy comes back in, Jane is flying all around the room. Later that night, Jane leaves with Peter to do his spring-cleaning.

As the children enter the cabin, Peter unlocks their chains. Peter and the children then emerge from the cabin quietly. Peter sneaks over to Wendy, unties her, puts on her shawl, and takes her place. To pacify them, Hook proposes that they drown Wendy, since a woman on a ship is always bad luck.

Hook is aware that a pirate must not be loyal to any government, and therefore insists that John and Michael must forswear the British empire. Yet he himself is painfully loyal to the British empire. The pirates put Wendy and the boys in Wendy's cabin and carry the cabin to the ship. When the pirates and their prisoners are out of sight, Hook slides down into the house through Slightly's tree. ... Hook is almost moved to pity by the pretty scene, but as always something arrogant in Peter's appearance enrages him.

The pirates attack first, thereby breaking the rules of pirate-redskin warfare, which state that the indians always attack first. Many indians are killed during battle, but a small number, including Princess Tiger Lily, manage to escape. Hook is not really interested in the indians, though; he has come for Peter Pan.
