S02E04 - The Meaning of Mindfulness with Allie Cartwright

40m · Published 26 Feb 12:00

What does it mean to be mindful - especially in this fast-paced world? We are being bombarded by messages from society, the media, and even our friends - what are the consequences if we don't stop to tune in to our own thoughts?

This week I bring on guest Allie Cartwright to discuss the meaning of mindfulness. We will look at how a lack of mindfulness impacts us and ways in which capitalism, culture, and society in general distracts us - and deters us from being present in the moment. Together we will also share ways in which meditation can strengthen your mindfulness muscle... your brain.

S02E03 - How to Use our Judgment of Others to Uplevel Our Inner Game with Anne Ruthmann

26m · Published 19 Feb 12:00

When we look at various spiritual paths - especially those that espouse "love and light" - we are discouraged from judging others. Some even tell us to "detox" from judgment. Could this reaction towards judging others - or judging ourselves - be a form of spiritual bypassing?

This week I bring on guest Anne Ruthmann to discuss this topic. We explore our own personal experiences with the j-word and the importance of understanding and responding vs reacting. Anne also shares how having healthy internal boundaries can transform judgment from a trap and into a tool we can use to uncover issues that we need to work on.

S02E02 - Understanding Neuro Linguistic Programming with Amelia Jordan Lee

20m · Published 13 Feb 00:27

As we wade deeper into 2020, communication is going to be key. Understanding how we take in the world - and how we affect those around us - is vital if we want to create the change we want to see.

Likewise, it is important for us to understand how what we say - and what is said to us - affects our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

I bring on this week's guest, Amelia Jordan Lee, to share what NLP is, as well as what it isn't! We also explore some of the myths and misconceptions around this modality, especially when it comes to (*gasp*) marketing.

About this week's guest:

A pioneer in her field, Amelia is a true alchemist. She uses a seemingly magical process of co-creation and transformation to get results for her clients. A certified holistic nutritionist, NLP mindset coach, and personal branding strategist, her unique integration of mind, body, and energy techniques combined with high impact messaging helps you ditch the overwhelm, align to your authentic self and amplify your aura so that you book more soul clients. S02E01 - Making a Difference in a Polarized World with Monica Borgeau

34m · Published 05 Feb 13:30

Today we officially launch Season 2! Since the purpose of this podcast is shifting, switching the name from "The Geek Girl Tarot Podcast" to "Between the Magical & the Mundane" felt appropriate.

It's February 2020 - the start of the United States presidential election cycle. I don't know about you, but the country (and parts of the world) feel pretty polarized. There's some "hard no" topics (bigotry, Nazis, etc.) but there's also a lot of discussions where people are entrenched in their beliefs and perspectives.

I bring on this week's guest, Monica Borgeau, author of The Change Code, to discuss why that is - what underlying factors lead to people believing what they believe? Why does it feel like there is so much change going on nowadays, and what does that mean for us? What can we do to empower ourselves so that we can change our lives (and the world) for the better? Tune in to this week's episode to find out more.

Card of the Week for December 8 to December 14

16m · Published 10 Dec 02:33

We are changing the format! Our Tarotcast for the community will be published early in the week and our guest interviews will be published mid-week. If you want a sneak peek of the Card of the Week, check out my livestreams at 9pm Central Time U.S. on Fridays.

Card of the Month Recap

For the month of December, the Justice card tells us we can't take shortcuts. What we put in is what we get out. Also, be mindful of any lingering wrongs that need to be right'ed. Now is the time to show humility, own up to your mistakes, and move forward. The other inkling I'm getting here (since I am in the United States) is that we may see some stuff go on with the impeachment hearings.

Card of the Week for December 8 to December 14

The Empress reversed is calling us out on not taking enough time to tend to our own needs (so sayeth the Tarot reader who has been sick the last week)

Are you drinking enough water? Eating nutritious foods? Taking your meds? Slowing down and taking care of YOU?

The Empress reversed hints that self care in all its forms may be in order.

Card of the Week for December 1 to December and Card of the Month for December 2019

9m · Published 04 Dec 03:36

We are changing the format! Our Tarotcast for the community will be published early in the week and our guest interviews will be published mid-week. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday plus a super-booked recording schedule (getting interviews lined up for 2020), this came out a little late.

Card of the Week for December 1 to December 7

Strength reversed is advising us to be friends with our emotions rather than try and control them. Society pressures us to put a lid on our feelings, especially those that are deemed "negative" and "low vibe". This week's card is saying that rather than try to dominate your feelings, work with them. Let them flow and use them for your own good.

S01E09 - Card of the Week for November 24 to November 30 - Psychic Development in Childhood with Elke Hannig

39m · Published 24 Nov 14:28

For full show notes and interview transcript, check out http://www.geekgirltarot.com/S01Ep09

Card of the Month Recap

The card pulled for November is The Devil. This card draws attention to the unhealthy attachments in our lives, both in the way of physical vices as well as unhealthy relationships. Some of the undertones of the holiday season may draw these issues out to the surface. Remember, the chains around you aren't super tight. You have ways to break free / detach / detox if needed. An add-on to this from the book Queering the Tarot by Cassandra Snow - look at how adjustment (Temperance) from past changes (Death) might have caused you to become too restrictive of yourself. Now might be a time to let loose and indulge a little!

Card of the Week for November 24th - November 30th

We have the Eight of Pentacles reversed telling us to focus on progress rather than perfection. Sometimes we get caught up on other people's finished products to where we forget that they too were beginners and have made mistakes along the way. Don't let "I'm new to this..." keep you from working towards your dreams

Psychic Development in Childhood with Elke Hannig

Elke Hannig is an expert in Body Psychotherapy and Tantric & Shamanic Wisdom Teachings. This week she shares with us how the stress we experience we experience as children can heighten our awareness of the world around us to the point where we become clairvoyant or clairfeeling.
