Everythang Culture
by B. Drake
Welcome to Everythang Culture - We are here to learn and share traditions, backgrounds, rituals, and much more with our guests and listeners.
Our goal is to bridge to gap of separation which causes ignorance so we can understand and hopefully love one another.
Our mission statement is inspired by the words of Rev. MLK Jr., I am convinced that men often hate each other because they fear each other. They fear each other because they don’t know each other, and they don’t know each other because they don’t communicate with each other, and they don’t communicate with each other because they are separated from each other.”
The pillars of our mission are Respect, Communication, and Consistency.

The Culture of Freaknik
53m · PublishedFreaknik was an annual spring break event that took place in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States between 1983 and 1997. It was a celebration of black culture and music that drew thousands of college students and young people from across the country.
The event was known for its party atmosphere, with music, dancing, and drinking taking place on the streets of Atlanta. However, it also had a reputation for being rowdy and sometimes violent, leading to calls for it to be shut down.
Despite this controversy, Freaknik remains a cultural touchstone for many in the African American community, representing a time of joy and celebration in the face of adversity.
In this episode, we invite Byanka, an Atlanta native, and Clark Atlanta alumni to discuss the culture of Freaknik and Atlanta.

53m · PublishedHello, beautiful people!
I have a question. Why are we struggling with what’s appropriate and what’s not? Many people do not support the Black community. It’s 2024, and we are dealing with prejudice and discrimination on numerous levels with racism. To feel like a person shouldn’t be treated or respected as a human being in equal measure is inhumane. Chan and I discuss how discrimination and prejudice show up in the treatment of Black people in America.
Discrimination: The process of making unfair or prejudicial distinctions between people based on the groups, classes, or other categories to which they belong or are perceived to belong, such as race, gender, age, religion, physical attractiveness, or sexual orientation.
Prejudice: An affective feeling towards a person based on their perceived group membership. The word often refers to a preconceived evaluation or classification of another person.
