2022 at GiveOut has been a year of major impact. With the support of you, our partners have been able to protect LGBTQI people in Ukraine and those fleeing, advance LBTQ women's rights in Sri Lanka, and support law's being passed that affirm the lives of LGBTQI people worldwide. Happy Pride Season! In Episode 9, host Dan Vo and GiveOut's Executive Director Rupert Abbott recap the Pride With Purpose report launch which featured Lord Browne of Madingley as well as speakers from Iraqueer, UHAI EASHRI, Latham & Watkins LLP and Standard Chartered Bank.

About Pride With Purpose

GiveOut, in partnership with Boston Consulting Group, Goldman Sachs and Latham & Watkins, has launched Pride with Purpose a report that helps businesses support the global movement for equality. It showcases research and interviews with businesses and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) activists around the world, especially in those places where it is most difficult to be LGBTQI. The report sets out research findings on the resource needs of the LGBTQI movement, the case for providing support and emerging legal standards, and best practices and challenges in this regard. It includes case studies of partnerships between businesses and LGBTQI organisations from Colombia to India, South Africa to Singapore, and concludes by proposing a 5-step approach for businesses to follow to better support the global LGBTQI movement. Happy Earth Day! In Episode 8, host Dan Vo and GiveOut's Supporter Engagement Officer Lee Dibben speak with Emme KrisTi, Consultant on Climate Justice at J-FLAG, the leading human rights and social justice organisation working for LGBTQI people in Jamaica.

Emme tells us about the ground-breaking research being pioneered by J-FLAG to understand how their community is engaging with the climate crisis. Through surveys and focus groups they are gathering evidence on the attitudes of LGBTQI people towards climate change, the current impacts of the crisis, and on emergency provisions for the community. The findings will be used to shape J-FLAG’s work in this area and will provide vital evidence for LGBTQI organisations around the world looking to join the movement for climate justice.

Plus Kathleen MacLean from founding corporate sponsor EV Energy joins us to talk about the launch of a world-first LGBTQI Climate Fund to support activists working around the world to help tackle the climate crisis.

Emme KrisTi is a Consultant on Climate Justice with J-FLAG, one of GiveOut’s grant partners in Jamaica. Dubbed the "non-binary STEM Queen", Emme is a gender non-binary pansexual environmental and food safety consultant who is currently undertaking further studies in the US as a Fulbright Scholar.
