S1E2 : Where Did We Come From, Where Do We Go?

1h 0m · Published 31 Jan 21:00

How does remembering something affect our future decision making? What would change if we as a species made a dedicated effort to compile knowledge and learn from the past? Here Phil, James, and Derek shoot the poot trying to figure out how a loss of culture, methods, and ideas can affect the future. We wonder how much would actually change if humans made a collective effort to "take more notes" on reality and its processes. It seems, despite having our history in front of us, we still never learn our lessons. As Derek says, sometimes we just get better at committing the atrocities from the past.

43 : Reality 2: Augmented Boogaloo

1h 10m · Published 27 Dec 21:00

"Reality 1" doesn't exist, we just really liked the title! Here we discuss virtual reality, mixed reality, augmented reality, and more! We often wonder where the future of virtual reality technology is going. Are we living in the Matrix? Will the future look like Ready Player One? We continue to look for distractions from reality as our technology starts to become something out of a science fiction movie. We still don't know what the future will look like, but there's a chance we'll be seeing it through the lens of virtual reality. The possibilities of integrating tech with our daily lives seem to be endless. One day we may be living lives half in reality and half in a virtual space, or maybe entirely digitally. Is it possible to forsake the physical for an entirely virtual life, and what are the consequences of that? Of course this is all speculation, but that's what we do here, speculate.

In this episode: Virtual reality, mixed reality, augmented reality, cyberspace, the net, the Internet of Things.

Here’s a special thank you to everyone who sticks with the show! This past year has shown us just how much more goes into making a podcast than we originally thought, so it’s been quite a journey for us so far, full of trial and error . . . That being said, our guests need a HUGE “thank you”. To all of the wonderful individuals who have hopped on the show, we appreciate it more than you know! Each one of you has helped us see the world differently; we hope our listeners enjoy our guests as much as we do! Each one of you wonderful people gives us the drive and inspiration to push onward and improve Time for Anything as a whole. We are happy to use this as a growing experience, and we hope to keep evolving our minds and viewpoints for the better as the show goes on. So again, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!

41 : Thanksgiving Special

48m · Published 25 Nov 21:00

Phil, Derek, and James wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! To those who don't celebrate this holiday, we send our best wishes your way! No matter who you are, you're welcomed to join us on this week's episode as we get into colonization.

Here we discuss the harsh reality that some people don't have it so great, and a lot of blood has been spilled to get us to where we are today. Even still, countries are suffering from their land being taken by opposing troops entering their territory. The world isn't all butterflies and rainbows, society does a good job at keeping our heads in the sand so as to not get distracted by all the violence going on across the world. We should be grateful for what we have, a lot of us could have it way worse!

40 : Imposter Syndrome

42m · Published 08 Nov 21:00

Imposter Syndrome: defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success. ‘Imposters’ suffer from chronic self-doubt and a sense of intellectual fraudulence that override any feelings of success or external proof of their competence.

Phil, Derek, and James try to break this topic down and explain their thoughts. Why do we doubt ourselves? Why do we feel like we don’t deserve our rewards? Why do we feel like we’re not qualified? Maybe this stems from a lack of confidence, maybe it’s deeper than that. Join us and find out!
