Tim was one of my idols when I started surfski in the early 2010s and he was actually the only paddler I never beat in a race at the time. We discuss his athletic career; coaching olympic athletes; winning events like the Dubai Shaamal, The Doctor, 20 Beaches and Hong Kong; racing molokai 10x and never winning; the winning drive and when he new it was time to stop; paddling tips; his favourite place to paddle and a whole bunch more!

Today I chat with Anthony Vela and we find out a little more about the man who directs many of the international SUP events world wide. A few fun facts about AV; he was born an hour from the coast, didnt go in the ocean as a kid, was heavily into skateboarding as a kid, found the ocean late in his teens, begun his career as a lifeguard in his 20s, went to Aus and did many summers competing in Surf Life Saving, in the late 2000s found SUP, won the first ever Carolina Cup, is involved as a director with ISA & APP, and runs a paddle club! Plenty more in there as we discuss so many things about his life and a really good chat about the state of the sport towards the end!

BOOTHCAST 78 is with investment banker turned Pro SUP paddler Stephanie Shideler. Stephanie walks us through her upbringing in Pebble Beach, CA where she was involved in horses and track running. Studying economics at Uni she landed a job in Finance at JP Morgan before leaving and ending up at Wharton Business School. From there she found her way into Investment Banking in New York while finding a love for surfing on Long Beach around the same time. Surfing led to paddling and ultimately she retired from Wall St in 2018 and pursed SUP full time. We've been working together on her SUP goals basically since then. It’s a cracking story and thanks for your time Steph!
