Venerable Sampasadana joins the Armadale Meditation Group on-line live. Armadale Meditation Group (AMG) is designed to teach you about meditation. The classes generally begin with chanting the Metta Sutta, then receiving meditation instructions and meditating together, followed by asking questions and finally if time remains listening to a Dhamma talk. However, the layout can vary. Due to social distancing regulations, these weekly Tuesday night teachings are happening via Zoom from Bodhinyana Monastery.

On this episode of Spirit Stories we have as our guest, Radan Kuča from the Czech Republic who has kickstarted interest in Buddhism by setting up the channel Ajahn Brahm Cesky to translate teachings into the Czech language. As you’ll find out this effort has already had a big impact and may already be spilling over into similar efforts for Ukrainian translations.

This interview has information about:

  • Radan’s challenges in finding out about Buddhism in a country with almost no organisations in Czechia
  • What inspired Radan to start a channel to translate the teachings of Ajahn Brahm, and how he and fellow volunteers have gone about doing this and making it really successful in just a year and a half
  • How the Russian invasion of neighbouring Ukraine has impacted the Czech Republic and what Czech people have been doing to help Ukrainians, as well efforts to start translating Buddhist teachings into Ukrainian to help Ukrainians coping with the trauma of war.

Venerable Kassapa | Generosity | Monday Night Meditation at Wat Dhammayanaram

Monday Night Meditation at Wat Dhammayanaram, Cambodian Society of WA (CBSWA) with Venerable Kassapa on 26 September 2022. These weekly teachings give an introduction into Meditation and some guidance and basics into the practice of the Buddhist Path. They usually consist of a short talk, thirty minute meditation and then questions & answers.

Venerable Kassapa has trained at Bodhinyana Monastery in Serpentine, WA (Buddhist Society of WA monastery – abbot Ajahn Brahmavamso), where he has been a resident since 2013.

Currently Venerable Kassapa is staying at Wat Dhammayanaram two to three weeks at a time and then returning to Bodhinyana for a week. Venerable has committed to help out the temple (for possibly up to 1-2 years), to assist the Cambodian monk Bhante Sukkhakamo by keeping him company and helping with things, such as this teaching engagement. Venerable Kassapa has been helping the temple on and off since he became a monk.

They have also set up a top quality online teaching presence through their Clear Mountain Dhamma youtube channel and podcast, and we’re going to find out about how they hope to take their experience of authentic Buddhist communities based around the principles of Early Buddhism and apply them in modern America.
