On this episode I speak with DJ Sofia Fly about how cis people can better approach discussions with Trans women around pleasure, intimacy, and their bodies.
Sofia fell in love with music and entered the Queer scene as a DJ to find a place of acceptance where she felt comfortable and ready to transition. As a Trans woman undergoing hormone replacement therapy, she discusses the changes she’s experienced in her body, her arousal, and sexual needs. Sofia talks about dealing with the internalized and misplaced homophobia of cis men in pursuing romantic relationships. We get into some etiquette for cis men around discussions about sexual interest, bodies, and genitals with Trans women. We end off talking about passability in the trans community, Trans representation in media, and Sofia’s music.

On this episode I speak with foot fetish content creator Foot Guy James about creating ethical porn in collaboration with other sex workers.
James gets into the origins of his foot fetishism in childhood and how that fetish materialized in adulthood and became a prominent part of his content creation. He discusses how his personal fetish and his hobby for producing porn transitioned into sex work. James also offers advice for men wanting to get into porn, particularly focusing on how to ethically engage with other sex workers for collaborations and general ethical practices in content creation. Overall, James demonstrates that sex work is work even though it can be simultaneously fun and pleasurable.

On this episode I speak with the wonderfully charismatic Jaden about their transition during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Transitioning during the pandemic and the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement has been both challenging and powerful for Jaden. The amount of activism springing from the Black community has created an atmosphere of empowerment to embrace the body as a site of political activism against oppression. We discuss the complex interaction between the sex positive communities and Queer Black Trans bodies, with a focus on the infamous dynamics of race play. Finally, Jaden discusses their recent top surgery and what it’s like undergoing hormone replacement therapy to provide insight for other humans in transition or considering transitioning.

On this episode I speak with Vanessa Vain about all things sex work, from camming to nude modeling, to full service sex work and porn production, with a focus on the activism in sex work.
Goddess Vanessa Vain has done it all—cam model, nude model, full service sex work, porn, and content creator. We discuss what it’s like for her as a woman of colour to navigate sex work while some family and friends provide obstacles and other support, while her online activism dives some white men away and brings other clients in, and how race play comes into the work, which dives the question—Can race play be consensual? We cap off the episode with some dos and donts for clients seeking sex workers and end with a very sexy story.
Listener question of the week: Can race play where a white male dom enacts white supremacist power over a BIPOC body ever be consensual? (Answer in comments on Insta @intellectual_erection)

This is a rebroadcast of an episode I published in December 2019 with Mimi. I’m bringing this conversation back to the front because it needs to be heard again. I am also offering my platform (podcast) to BIPOC folx interested in amplifying their voice—interviews, prerecorded audio, podcast episodes—I’m happy to rebroadcast on your terms.
From the original episode description: On this episode I speak with Mimi, otherwise known after dark as Miss Storm, about the her involvement in the BDSM, kink, fetish, and burlesque communities.
Mimi talks about her complex intersections with sexual identity, BDSM, and her muggle life that certainly doesn’t permit her alter ego Miss Storm to surface. Her compartmentalized life is at times difficult to navigate but we get a small glimpse into her worlds that would possibly combine to form something like a submissive homoflexible dancing sex kitten. In the midst of it we talk about whether BDSM and sex can be cleanly separated, some fun stories, and a dark past.

On this episode I speak with pornstar extraordinaire Malcom Lovejoy about the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality in porn and the sex positive communities.
Malcom started doing sex work after a career in journalism and hip-hop, but he credits making porn as the best decision of his life. He discusses his experiences as a queer Black man making fem-oriented porn and how race and Black masculinity operate in the sex work industry. We have a long and intimate discussion about race play and racism in general in the sex positive communities toward a more intersection approach in sex positivity. Finally, Malcom ends off with a very sweet and sexy story that captures much of the magic of who he is as a human.

On this episode I speak with Marla Renee Stewart about the broad range of sex positive work she does in sex education, writing, conferences, therapy, media, and advocacy.
Marla’s resume is far too long to list here or to even cover meaningfully in the podcast, but we do dive into key sections of her work on sex education, writing, conferences, lecturing, and how intersectionality plays a role in all of her work. Marla discusses the work that she does with joy and passion, elaborating on her early inspirations and the continued meaning that is revealed in her efforts to enable intersectionality in the sex positive communities. We also discuss how her work has been impacted by COVID-19 and the resurgence of Black Lives Matter movement.

This is a remastered rebroadcast of an episode I published in June 2019 with Isla & Ruby, discussing sex work at the intersections of race, disability, and asexuality. I’m bringing this conversation back to the front because it needs to be heard again. I am also offering my platform (podcast) to BIPOC folx interested in amplifying their voice—interviews, prerecorded audio, podcast episodes—I’m happy to rebroadcast on your terms.
From the original episode description: Isla is young, away from home, and about to get married, when she realizes there must be more to life than this. She’s already been making some money doing online sex-work, when, enter Ruby, she’s introduced to the possibilities available through full-service sex-work. Ruby had been working through an agency and showed Isla the ropes, a sort of mentorship. Eventually, Ruby went off to do independent sex-work and Isla has remained with the agency for the community and experience. They’re both good friends and here to share their individual takes on sex-work. Isla talks about what it’s like being an asexual Black woman and a sex-worker, and Ruby discusses her invisible physical disabilities and how they intersect with her sex-work. Together, they have found ways to help one another and advocate for healthy and informed ways to enter the matriarchy of sex-work.
