Lawler episode

Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of My Mate's Mental Health.

Its been way too long between episodes, but boy am I glad to be able to be back. On this episode, I’m joined by my mate Lawler. Lawler is a bloke I met through footy, since uploading the trailer episode, he’s always been so happy to provide feedback and encouragement for the pod and it was an honour to have him come on and speak about his own journey with mental health, specifically about how the passing of a close friend impacted him.

This episode really gave me a lot to reflect on and it was special to have Lawler share this with me and I’m sure you guys will enjoy it too.

I hope you guys enjoy the episode and of course, don't forget to rate, share and subscribe. peace xo

Pat shares his experience around the journey of becoming a father and the unexpected hurdles that came with it and touches on the importance of really checking in with friend's and family.

It was an absolute privilege to be able to have this conversation with him and I am so honoured to be able to share it with you guys.

Episode 6 - Ethan

40m · Published 01 Feb 06:00

Episode 6 baby! On this episode, I'm joined by my good friend Ethan.

Ever wonder what it's like accessing a psychologist in Australia? Well on today's show, Ethan talks about his experience with psychology, some of his own mental health journey and also shares some great and encouraging insights into what it's like being a teacher and teaching about mental health in schools.

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation and was super motivated by it, I think it's certainly worth a listen, especially if you're on the fence about seeing a psychologist.

I hope you guys enjoy the episode and of course, don't forget to rate, share and subscribe. peace xo

Episode 5 - Robards

45m · Published 13 Jan 08:00

On episode 5 of My Mate's Mental Health, I'm joined by sister Robards (nursing reference).

Who knew an awkward ice-breaker social exercise at uni would lead to such a great friendship - Robards shares with us some incredible insights into fatherhood, both the positives and negatives and also what we as mates can do for when our friend's become parents.

Even if you are a dad, I think you'll enjoy this chat, and this is episode is also a really good reminder of how important it is to check in on our friends who have just become parents. What a legend he was, wrap your ears around it fam!

I hope you guys enjoy the episode and of course, don't forget to rate, share and subscribe. peace xo

Episode 4 - Pat, Part 1

18m · Published 23 Dec 10:00

On the 4th episode of My Mate's Mental Health I'm joined by the OG uce Pat.

I don't think I have shared more laughs with anyone else throughout high school than this man, it was an absolute honour to have him on. Pat shares with us what it was like moving to Australia and coming to terms with learning to call it home, unfortunately our time was cut short when recording this but it means there's going to be a part 2. Pat has so much more to share and this episode is just the tip of the iceberg but still an absolute delight to listen to.

I felt so fulfilled just talking to him for this short amount of time and it was a good reminder that it's about quality not quantity.

I hope you guys enjoy the episode and of course, don't forget to rate, share and subscribe. peace xo

Episode 3 - Baggott

52m · Published 27 Oct 07:00

On the 3rd episode of My Mate's Mental Health I'm joined by an OG - Baggott, some might know him as Matt, Big Gucci Bagga, King of Wyoming and the list goes on....

Our friendship goes back about 15 years, he was a my first housemate, my groomsman and just an all round amazing friend. This episode is unique, in the sense that we share the struggles of how difficult it actually is to talk to 'the boys' and how sometimes it's important to go through life's journey's on your own or even with just the closest people around you.

I got so much out of this episode and it was a good reminder of how sometimes backing ourselves is the most important thing.

I hope you guys enjoy the episode and of course, don't forget to rate, share and subscribe. peace xo

Episode 2 - Rod

1h 6m · Published 08 Oct 09:00

On the second episode of My Mate's Mental Health, I'll be joined by my mate Rod. Rod and I have a lot of things in common, however one of the most unique things is that we've both worked in prisons.  Along with this, he has also had his own fair share of mental health adversities in life.

We talk about family, friendships, our faith, body image, mental health in jails and loads more. This was such a humbling conversation and I think there's going to be a lot we can all relate to.

Episode 1 - Nick

43m · Published 26 Sep 07:00

On the first episode of My Mate's Mental Health, I'll be joined by my best mate Nick. Nick and I have known each other for 20 years. He works as a Doctor in Sydney, Australia and throughout both his professional and personal life, has had encounters with mental health.

This was such a great chat and really opened my mind to the toll the pandemic is having on the mental health of doctors, but more importantly it was great to get his insight on what it was like growing up with anxiety.

I got so much out of this chat, I'm sure you guys are going to love it. Don't forget to rate, share and subscribe. Enjoy xo
