1h 16m · Published 03 Dec 22:26
I asked what questions you had and you left all sorts of fun questions on the blog! So today I'm sharing the longest podcast yet, answering whatever you guys were wondering about. In todays' podcast you'll hear about getting back on track after the holidays, cleaning products, breast augmentation, how to stay organized, plateaus in CrossFit or overall fitness, sugar, and really anything else you guys thought up!! One thing I had many people ask was how I created recipes, how I learned to manage different flours, and how I come up with content regularly. So instead of answering that question in this long podcast, I thought I would do an entire podcast about that! So if you have any questions related to content on a blog or whatever else, let me know and I'll be happy to answer them next week on the podcast! And apologies if I missed your question! Sometimes I miss something on my end when I'm sorting through all the questions. But if I did miss yours and you'd like it answered, please just leave that question below and I'll answer you ASAP! Thank you guys so much for asking so many awesome questions, it really made for a fun podcast!! Juli Bauer: Hey guys! How’s it going? What’cha up to? {woofing} Jackson {laughs} Oh man. I got in trouble the other week because I kept telling Jackson not to chew on his bone, and a lot of people didn’t like that because you couldn’t hear it; but I thought you could, ok, so stop getting mad at me. Man, I got a couple of angry comments on iTunes, and people were just annoyed; it’s like, unprofessional. Hello; hello. If you’ve ever met, read my blog, you know I’m 100% unprofessional. Whatever. But people; this, I feel like I have to apologize for myself, but thankfully I’ll go to other people’s podcasts, and the reviews there; the podcasts I really like, like My Favorite Murder, or even Serial or Sword and Scale, and you’ll read the negative comments, and you’re like; ok, at least other people are getting negative comments. It’s not just me. But then you can’t respond to reviews, so this woman; Allison. Her name was Allison. She said that I complain about my supporters; and I’m not sure who I ever complained about. I think I complained about the people who talk about my weight on social media; I don’t consider those people “my supporters” because they’re talking sh*t about my weight. You know, trolls who are passing through. That’s what I consider those people. But I want to apologize for Allison; not that she’s listening to this podcast anymore, but I wanted to apologize to Allison that I came off that I was complaining about my supporters. That was not what I intended to. So kind of how My Favorite Murder has corrections corner every time; which I think came out with a new episode today. Score! But, you know they have corrections corner. So I’ll just have apologies corner for the people that I piss off. Apologize, Allison, that was not my intention. God bless. Moving on. I got a ton; like I asked people on the blog this week and in this last podcast that I did to just ask random questions. I’ve done this kind of podcast before, of just asking random stuff for people, and whatever questions you have. They could be about anything, and answering those,

Why Having Kids Scares The Crap Out of Me – Episode 10: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

42m · Published 26 Nov 22:31
Ever since I got married...no scratch that...ever since I got engaged, I'm constantly bombarded with questions from others if we are going to have kids or WHEN we are going to have kids. And every single time that topics is brought up to me, I instantly start sweating and get anxiety. It's not a topic I take lightly. I don't just say to myself, "Yeah, let's have kids! That will be so fun and everything will be great!" No. I think through that kind of stuff. Because kids are forever. They don't just go away. They rely on you to raise them, to wipe their bums, to help them become upstanding citizens. And at 28 years old, I'm just not ready for someone else to rely on me. That may be selfish, but I think selfish is the best thing to be until you are truly ready to become a selfless person who puts yourself second. And I'm just not there. When I decided to make this a podcast episode, I wrote out a pros and cons list to having a baby. So here's the quick rundown. Pros My husband would be an awesome father Cons You have to grow a child inside of you then birth it - and all the body and gross stuff that goes with it. I've worked very hard to become comfortable with who I am and how I physically look and it's scary to lose some of that Fertility issues - I've seen so many friends go through it and it looks so incredibly challenging both mentally and physically Financially - children are expensive AF. Finally being able put money into a retirement account and feel more stable for the future is so great and it's scary to let some of that go. You don't get to sleep much with children Lack of sleep leads to a tough relationship with your partner Lack of sleep leads to issues with cortisol which can lead to weight issues Lack of sleep just really sucks Less working out I know this is a sketchy subject, I have just seen most of the people I know who used to workout religiously just not care as much about working out anymore. When they have the choice of working out or going home to their child, they obviously want to see their children. I know you can make it work, I just so often see people do the opposite, so that scares me. Changes to your relationship I don't personally know any people whose relationship has gotten stronger since they had children. Stress to the relationship and different opinions about disciplining your children I work all the time and my husband does too - not sure how we would change that. Because I don't want to work less and I don't think he could. Which leads to more financial stress to hire a nanny. It’s your duty to raise an upstanding citizen, while not knowing what the hell you’re doing yourself. What if you raise a serial killer? What if they get in with the wrong crowd? What if they don't get their sh*t together and live with you FOREVER?! I know this comes off as a really pessimistic way to look at things, but I'm just being realistic about it. I think it's smart to think through these things because so often people just have children and the children aren't raised in the best environment. I want to feel ready, be ready, and have way less on my cons list. I think more people should really think this sh*t out. Think how different our world would be if they did. At the end of the day, who knows if I'll someday want children. If I don't, I think I will have an awesome life. If I do, I think I'll have an awesome life. But in the meantime, I just want to hang out with my husband, save money, and do cool sh*t. But next time you're about to ask a person if they are planning to have kids, remember that they may be going through these things that I listed above and it may not be something they want to talk about with you, let alone think about. So think before you ask. Next week is another random questions episode so if you have any questions you'd like answered, no matter what the topic is, let me know! Just leave a comment below or on social media!

Eating Healthy During The Holidays & While Traveling – Episode 9: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

51m · Published 19 Nov 22:31
"Failing to plan is planning to fail" It's so easy to make excuses during the holidays or while we are traveling. But based on my own experience with traveling a sh*t ton over the past three, I know for a fact that you can make it work if you want to. But you have to want it. And when you want it, you have to plan ahead. We make sh*tty decisions when we are frantic and have no other options available. But if you plan ahead, you'll always have something available or a game plan to keep you on track. Your health is still most important, so act like it! Even when families or friend's feelings are involved, remember that your health is the most important and you should treat it that way. I'm working on getting transcriptions for each one of my previous podcasts, including this one, so I'm writing a bit more in detail in the description until then. And that way, if you don't want to listen, you can quickly scan this! But know that transcriptions are coming! Hope this topic is helpful! When heading out to travel - do your research: Download the yelp app (searching gluten free and paleo) Google (duh) Ask friends Look at blogs and social media My favorite restaurants while traveling Nom Nom Paleo Plan some of your meals Restaurants Grocery Shop - Make meals for yourself Drink a ton of water - take a water bottle with you Pack snacks for emergencies Rx Bars Larabars Larabar bites Mammoth Bars Fuel For Fire Protein Packs Nut Butter Packets Plantain Chips Jerky Work with what you have Eat the meat off of a sandwich (when I have no other option, I'll get a breakfast sandwich at a coffee shop and just eat the egg and sausage patty without the bagel/croissant) Get a shitty salad with no dressing or croutons Look up the ingredients at McDonald's before you go there. Look at just the sauce ingredients alone! This is the ingredients in just the Habanero Ranch Sauce alone: Water, Soybean Oil, Corn Syrup Solids, Distilled Vinegar, Buttermilk Powder, Egg Yolks, Maltodextrin, Dried Cayenne Red Pepper Sauce (Aged Cayenne Red Peppers, Vinegar, Salt, Garlic), Sugar, Corn Starch, Modified Food Starch, Contains 1% or Less: Salt, Spice and Spice Extractives, Natural Flavor (Dairy and Animal Sources), Lemon Juice Concentrate, Lactic Acid, Habanero Pepper, Red Bell Pepper Powder, Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate (Preservatives), Xanthan Gum, Propylene Glycol Alginate, Apple Cider Vinegar. When dealing with the holidays: Follow all the steps above Plan ahead Get to the grocery store Plan some of the meals If you're heading to a holiday party Bring a couple of your own side dishes Load up on meat and vegetables first and then get smaller portions of the heavier food that you don't want to miss out on since you only get it once a year Don't forget that you don't HAVE to feel uncomfortably full on Thanksgiving or other holidays For dessert - bring something you know you can have or have smaller portions of the dessert you truly love Drink lots of water Reader Questions: How to explain your healthier choices to your friends and family: Questions usually stem from insecurities (when it's not just curiosity) so I just explain what paleo is, where it came from, and how good I felt when I started eating paleo. Explain paleo in a positive light instead of what you can't have. And the more you stick to your guns, the more people will back down. How to take part in family traditions (such as cinnamon rolls) and you don't want to hurt their feelings: Remember first and foremost, your health is most important. Be able to explain yourself why you aren't having something If they love you and respect you, they should respect your healthy choices Come up with an alternative for yourself - gluten free cinnamon rolls! (I've seen them in the frozen food isle in Whole Foods) Dealing with friends and family without feeling high maintenance and while maintainin...

Our Little Love Story – Episode 8: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

42m · Published 12 Nov 21:09
I don't know why the hell I decided to do this podcast episode, but it just felt right, OK?!?. It's fun to share love sometimes. ESPECIALLY right now during a time when there is so much anger and hatred in America. Let's spread the love! I rarely talk about my husband. I just kind of like it that way. I like that part of my life to be slightly private and to be away from the public eye of social media. Because as we all have figured out at this point, social media is the worst. But I thought it would be fun to share a little bit more about our relationship and our ups and downs since we had a lot at the beginning! What I wish I would have talked about in this podcast more is how damn cool he is. He's a good person with a good soul who wants to continue to get better and be better, and that's what I love about him so much. I fell in love with him because he's good to his core. He challenges and makes me want to be better. If I could recommend anything to people in the dating world, it would be to find someone who is a good person and driven to become even better. That's my little PSA of the day. Next week I'll be talking about eating healthy while traveling and staying motivated during the holidays! And if you have any recommendations or topics you'd like me to cover and talk about, let me know!! Happy Saturday!! Episode 8 Transcription: This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored. Juli Bauer: Hey guys! It’s Juli here from www.PaleOMG.com. I had someone the other day tell me that they visited my blog after listening to my podcast; they didn’t even know about my blog! How the hell you came across my podcast, I don’t know, but that’s the greatest thing I’ve ever heard in the history of time. So thank you to that human being. You know, I’m just over here cooking some Thanksgiving recipes, so I may have to pause in between, get the potatoes out of the oven. No, don’t ask if potatoes are paleo; do your f*cking Google research yourself! Figure out what works for you! But that’s not what we’re getting into today. You know what we’re getting into? We’re going to talk about; and feel free to leave if you need to; but we’re going to talk about my love story with my husband. Because I’ve been with him for 4 years now, and I’ve only talked about him very little on the blog. And so I thought it would be fun to do a podcast, because I never talk about him, I just talk about him like; “Aww, he cooked dinner for me, what a sweetheart!” type of thing. I try to just keep out of my blog and off of social media. Because social media, as we’ve seen from the election, is f*cking awful. Social media is true hell come to life. So I like to keep my husband off that hell; that hell life that sometimes I have to live pretty much every day. So I just wanted to talk about our story, so you guys can just know it a little bit more, one person requested it. I’m not acting like everyone’s like; “Oh my god, tell me all about your love story!” No. One person requested it, so it’s like; f*ck yeah! F*ck yeah I’ll do it! So I’m just going to talk a little bit about my husband, our past life, our present life. And go from there, you know. I didn’t even write down a description of what this podcast will look like; I didn’t do any bullet points, I’m just completely winging it. The research I did on me and my husband’s relationship was, I went to look back at Facebook to see what our first conversations were, because that was how we kind of first started talking was Facebook. But ok, I’m getting ahead of myself, ok guys. So let’s talk about this little husband of mine. So I just got married back in April, and we got married in Jamaica, and it was f*cking awesome. If I could make everybody do a destination wedding, I absolutely would. Because, I mean, I don’t know why anyone in the world wants to plan a wedding, when you do destination wedding you don’t have to plan sh*t. it is the best! No stressful times, it’s awesome.

How I Became a Full-Time Blogger – Episode 7: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

1h 1m · Published 05 Nov 20:09
I've been blogging since 2011 at this point. Every single day, every single week, and every single month I learn something new. I figure out a new way to cook, a new tool online, I learn how to shoot and edit video, or how to take better photos, I learn a new way to make money and help my family thrive. I'm constantly learning and that's exactly why I love my job so much. I make my own rules, I make my own destiny, and I decide what is best for me, my blog, and what I put out into the world. I wake up every day excited to take on the day because I know that the harder I work, the more benefits I will reap (most of the time). I became a full-time blogger, I believe, around 2013. I don't remember the exact day or even month, but I do remember thinking - "Ok Juli, you're finally making more money at blogging than you are at coaching full time, so maybe it's time to do this every day and see what is possible and how much you can grow." I forgot to mention in this podcast that it was when I was making more money blogging than coaching that I decided to make the full jump to just blogging. I think people have a hard time figuring out when they should make the jump, so that's what worked best for me - knowing for sure I would be making more money blogging than my other job. Here's a super quick run down of today's podcast! Every podcast I've been totally rushing trying to keep it under a certain time cap, but I recently just did something on the back end of my site so I don't have to rush anymore. So from now on, after this week, no more rushing! I'm hoping I didn't miss anything in this podcast, but here in a little run down of the main points! Starting My Blog: Started with a free template I found online and uploaded it to blogspot.com for free As it grew, I changed over to wordpress.com (that was a pain in the ass - I recommend starting on wordpress.com so you don't have to transfer anything over) Ways I get paid: Advertising – I use to work with google ads and other companies, but I continued to run into issues with how the ads were placed or where they led the customer. I now work with Adthrive who was recommended by Lexi and I love it. Affiliate programs – Affiliate just means that I promote certain products and if those products are purchased, I make a cut of that. Book bundles Ebook sales Amazon (This just became available for Colorado people!!) Real plans Random Other Affiliate Programs - Liketoknow.it, food related, etc. Sponsored posts and content A company will reach out to me about working together, I will tell them my fees and we will sometimes negotiate Books - I’ve come out with 3 cookbooks which I receive royalties on, but you just never know what you are going to make so it’s a bit of a crap shoot and it restricts you from your daily job of blogging which reduces traffic long term. But many publishers give advances to make up for that and help with that type of issue. OMG! That's Paleo? The Paleo Kitchen Juli Bauer's Paleo Cookbook Reader Questions: Affordable host to get your blog started on: Bluehost Get food photography inspiration from How Sweet It Is and Half Baked Harvest This book taught me the basics about setting up a food photography, it's a really good book! If you have any questions about becoming a full time blogger, please leave them in the comments below! I respond to comments on my blog much faster than emails, so please keep that in mind! And if you have podcast topics you would like to hear about, let me know! I also just got my podcast on Stitcher so feel free to listen to it here! And don't forget to rate, review and subscribe so I know what you guys are thinking!! Thanks so much for listening!! Episode 7 Transcription: This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored. Juli Bauer: Hey guys! It’s Juli here, from PaleOMG. I just walked my dog, and I; oh damn he found a bone.

Macros, Supplements & Protein Powder – Episode 6: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

35m · Published 29 Oct 21:03
Happy Saturday! Today I am chatting all about macros, supplements and protein powder. All things I know nothing about. But I'm telling you my experience with some different products and what I've found to work for me! I haven't tried macros myself because of my tendencies with obsessive behaviors, especially towards food. But I've still been able to lose weight just listening to my body, eating real food, and staying away from alcohol and sugars most of the time (while still enjoying life)! Feel free to ask any questions below and I'm happy to answer them here! I had a hard time sorting through social media questions the other day while dealing with a loss of a friend so I'm sorry for not answering questions very well. Working on it! Here are some links to the talking points I chatted about! Zone document that I started with when beginning zone then paleo My favorite gluten free granola My favorite gluten free bread Explanation of Macros Macros calculator Multivitamins - Smarty Pants Gummies and the prenatal ones The fish oil I prefer Favorite Protein Powder Great Lakes Collagen Vital Proteins Collagen More info about collagen and it’s benefits Again, feel free to ask any questions below or leave a comment with your own experience when it comes to macros, supplements and protein powder! Excited to hear your own stories!! Episode 6 Transcription: This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored. Juli Bauer: Hey guys! It’s Juli from PaleOMG. How’s it going? I hope you’re having just a fabulous week, and things are just getting brighter and brighter. I have had a really weird couple of weeks and extremely stressful. I lost a friend this week, very unexpectedly, and I’m still trying to process that, and I’m having a hard time with it. But I told you guys I would get this podcast done and I’m trying to get it done. So I hope I do my best on this podcast. I’m just a total mess. It’s just been a really f*cking weird week, and I’m just crying a lot and I just had a dog who rolled himself in goose sh*t, and I about f*cking lost it. And all he did was rub himself in goose sh*t! He’s done that many times. But since there are so many things going on and so many stressors, I was so mad at my poor dog. It’s just been a weird f*cking week. But, I want to get on with this. I asked on Instagram if anybody had questions about macros, or supplements, or protein powder, and there were like 120 questions. And what’s so sh*tty about that, is I know nothing about macros. Yeah. So we’ll just get that out there in the open; I know nothing about macros. They know nothing about me, I guess. I don’t really take any supplements, and I barely drink protein powder. So you know what; I’m going to be really f*cking helpful on this subject. Sorry about that. So if you want some real knowledge bombs and that kind of sh*t, for any amount of time, but I like to talk from experience. Going back in the past, what has worked for me. Because macros is this huge thing right now; you’re seeing a lot of people get super lean doing macros, and I have had really obsessive behaviors in the past, and I’ve been able to have my weight go up and down not counting food at all and have lost weight without counting whatsoever. So I just want to talk about that today, but if you want science facts, get the f*ck out of here. You don’t want anything to do with me. But; let’s go back in the past. So I counted calories in the past. I remember in high school I had my little planner, and I would count however many calories, and this was not when I was eating healthy. I mean, I was eating those 100-calorie snack packs, and just starving myself. I was starving myself as much as I could. Oh my god, if I burp a lot in this podcast, it’s because I’m drinking kombucha. Are you cool with that? You feel me? You cool? Ok. So, in this planner I had when I was a teenager, and I was like 14-15, whatever, I was counting calories,

Juli Bauer: Hey there! It’s Juli, from PaleOMG. I hope you got that from the introduction going on there. There’s just a lot going on here at the PaleOMG household. I wonder if my husband finds it annoying when I say PaleOMG household. He doesn’t really read my blog, or listen to my podcast, or watch any of my videos, so he doesn’t even know. Ok guys. Today we’re going to be talking about random questions. I was thinking every 5th episode, I did a random questions episode. But we’ll see how the first one goes. I started asking questions like a week ago, and the questions keep building up, so I’m hoping I’m covering everything, and they’re all over the place, today, guys. I asked on Instagram earlier today for random questions, and there were some interesting ones. Some ones I just cannot cover. I won’t say why, because then I’m going to be rude, I’m going to be a bitch, and I don’t want to be a bitch. Wait; let’s go over some crazy stuff going on right now. So, I’ve been trying to film videos but we have construction going on at our house. We’re getting like a pathway lay from the front to the back of the house. And I don’t know if you’ve followed me for very long, but if you have, you saw that like 2 weeks before our wedding our sewer line collapsed, so we had to dig into our patio. So we’ve had this hole in our patio that’s just a mound of dirt, because the; I don’t know, whatever, the plumber, was like, don’t use us,

Paleo on a Budget – Episode 4: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

43m · Published 15 Oct 19:21
Paleo on a budget was a highly requested topic. Because, well, everyone is on some sort of budget. And that's something to remember: make the best choices you can that fit within your budget and your lifestyle. Just because you can afford grass fed meat doesn't mean you should be heating up a hot pocket or freezer meal or eating fast food. That's gross. Eat real food, even if it isn't perfect. It's better than what most of the population are eating out there. Here's a little recap from the podcast: Places to find cheaper meats: Find a farmer near you Get a deep freezer Split a cow Freeze and thaw and eat everything you are given Online companies for meats that can ship: US Wellness Meats Texas Grassfed If you buy at the grocery store: Grassfed, if possible Look for what is on sale and cook that Use the cheaper cuts like stew meat or roasts or organ meat - learn to cook those items If you can't get organic or hormone free or grassfed, remove excess or any visible fat before cooking (that's where sketchy sh*t is stored) When buying vegetables: Join a local CSA Eat in season - you'll know something is in season when it's a little cheaper, but you can also find a full list here Items that are less important when it comes to buying organic - Clean fifteen Items more important to buy organic and wash thoroughly – Dirty dozen Pantry staples: Buy products from Amazon Buy in bulk at Costco Thrive Market Tropical traditions Spices: Buy in bulk and online Baking: If you’re trying to stay on budget DON’T BAKE. Baking costs so much more and it’s unneeded in our diet. You need real food, so stay away as much as you can when it comes to baked goods. Make your own products such as almond milk, almond flour, ghee, etc. Start looking at what your normal expenses are: Are you going out to drinks every week with friends? Are you paying $5 every day for a coffee? Are you eating out on a weekly basis? What things can be removed so you can eat better. It's all about choices, even on a really tight budget! Favorite Snacks: Larabars RX Bars Mammoth Bars Plantain Chips Nut Butter Packets - My Favorite (doesn't upset my stomach) Favorite PaleOMG slow cooker recipes: Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Chili Slow Cooker Tomatillo Pork Chile Verde Crockpot Carne Asada Loaded Fries Easy Shredded Pork over Caramelized Mashed Plantains Barbacoa Brazilian Curry Chicken Crockpot Ropa Vieja with Cuban Style Rice Mushroom Gravy Slow Cooked Rump Roast Honey Ginger Apple Shredded Pork If you have any questions or comments or ways that you save while still eating healthy, please leave your comments below to help even more people out! Episode 4 Transcription: This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored. Juli Bauer: Well hey there guys! How’s it going today, this fine, whatever day you’re listening to do. That didn’t even make sense. Dammit, I already screwed this whole podcast up! I just gave my dog the emptiness of a yogurt, a sheep’s yogurt, so he could just chew on that a little bit; lick any little ounce of yogurt out. So if you hear slurping, some moving, it’s pretty much to get my dog to not ask me and whine to go outside so I can get this podcast done. You know, I need to get this done for you guys. Because today, we need to talk about paleo on a budget. But we’ll get there, ok. I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts, guys, all kinds of stuff. And you know, I found that there are some really good podcasts out there, but I’m more so obsessed with the true crime ones. Am I the only person who’s obsessed with these things? I mean, other people have to be obsessed, because they’re, like; the top 100 are all true crime. Seriously. So I’ve listened to Serial, which is always the number one. Jackson, can you stop making as much noise, please? I listened to Undisclosed, but I got a little bored so I stopped listening to that.

Exercise & Over-Exercising – Episode 3: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

26m · Published 08 Oct 21:14
I always believed calories in-calories out when it came to weight loss and weight management. But after competing in CrossFit, limiting my caloric intake, and working out multiple times per day - I finally figured out that was not the case. My body was inflamed and yearning for more carbohydrates and less exercise. But I was too addicted to exercise to see the full picture. My workouts began to suffer and my body continued to progress into a constant state of stress. There was no recovery in my life and my body began to show it. It wasn't until I gave up competing, gave in to more rest days and started feeding my body properly that I began to see results. I slept longer at night, I slowly began to lose weight and the inflammation in my body reduced, I listened to what exactly my body was craving and ate those things, and I became a much MUCH happier person. I had no balance in my life for so many years. I would either completely limit my food intake or eat everything in sight. I would not workout at all or workout multiple times per day. I would completely hate everything about myself and constantly talk down to myself instead of putting good energy out into the world. It was a really negative times, that lasted for about 24 years. I'm saying all this because I see so many other people go through it as well. Thinking they need to starve themselves or just workout more instead of looking at the big picture: workout regularly, take rest days, eat well, stress less, sleep more, and be kind to yourself. It's amazing how much your body will thank you when you follow those few things. If you guys have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below. Episode 3 Transcription: Juli Bauer: Hello! Hello everyone out there. Welcome to the PaleOMG Uncensored podcast. I feel as though I need to start introducing myself, since I haven’t done that in the past two. I’m just really getting my shoes on; getting going. Whatever the hell that means. Last week, I had a bunch of you, thankfully, let me know that I suck and I need to suck less by writing down kind of an overview of what my topic is going to be so I don’t get lost. Because I tend to do that. But I will get lost, even though I have an awesome overview planned out; I’m just letting you know ahead of time. Anywho. Today we are going to be talking about exercise and over-exercise. Ooh, what a fun topic. I have done both in my life, so I want to kind of tell my story about that. I always thought calories in, calories out. So if I was eating a certain amount of calories, the more I worked out, the more weight I would lose, or the more muscle definition I would see. I always had this kind of belief in that. But we’ll get into that in a little bit. I want to talk about kind of my history with exercise. If you’ve seen my Instagram or my blog, every Monday I post what I did, when my rest days were. I also share once in a while what I ate in a day, and I give you free travel workouts and on-sale fitness apparel and new workout music, and sometimes I kind of just talk about motivational stuff; what’s kept me motivated and excited about exercise in the end. So, I’m just going to talk all about that. You can always find more details on www.paleomg.com every Monday if you want to know details about more exercise. But first, let’s talk a little bit about history. Let’s go back in the books, guys. Of Juli Bauer; now Juli Bauer-Roth,

Alcohol – Episode 2: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

24m · Published 02 Oct 01:35
Alcohol is such a touchy subject with people. People ask how to improve their fitness or lose weight or see better results, but when you tell them they should cut out the alcohol, they want nothing to do with you. Alcohol is a crutch, alcohol is a good time, alcohol is memories...or lack there of. Alcohol is part of most people's lives, but it can also hold a lot of people back in many ways. I'm not getting into alcohol addiction here, I'm just saying that if your goal is to lose weight or hit a certain PR in the gym or fit into a dress or whatever, than alcohol shouldn't be something you're consuming on a daily or weekly basis. Good, wholesome food is what you actually need. Protein, carbs, fat. Alcohol is not part of those needs. But we don't live in a world of just black and white. We live in a world where there are weddings and celebrations or get-togethers. So you have to pick your battles. You have to decide what your goals are and stick with them. And that may mean not having a glass of wine every single night after you get home or going out with your friends Friday-Saturday-Sunday. I speak only from experience here and cutting out alcohol for a good amount of time in order to compete at the CrossFit level. Nowadays, since I don't compete and I'm not trying to set PRs or lose weight, I'll have a drink once in a while if I'm out with friends or at a special event. I've learned that I can still have fun while out with drunk friends, not always, but a lot of the time. And I've learned that peer pressure is just insecurity from that person. If you have questions about certain kinds of alcohol, leave them below! I'll try my best to answer them! Just remember, alcohol is not NEEDED. It's meant for certain occasions, just like dessert. There ya go! Think about alcohol as dessert! To listen to last weeks episode, click here! Episode 2 Transcription: Juli Bauer: Hey guys! It’s Juli from PaleOMG here. I am talking to you from San Francisco today. Ye olde San Francisco. I had a very interesting flight in, so I’ll start from the beginning. I had just a normal boring Uber ride to the airport. I get to the airport, I got get breakfast at Root Down like I do every time when I’m at DIA, and then hop on the plane. Just normal, right? Cool. I decided to download the podcast Serial, because now I’m totes into podcasts now that I’ve released my first one. I get my headphones in, start listening to Serial, start listening about this murder, and all the ties, and then I start smelling a vinegar smell. I don’t think much of it; you know when you get on a plane and there’s f*cking nasty ass smells in there; like somebody opens McDonald’s, and it smells like someone is chewing on a shoe? Like a really f*cking nasty sneaker shoe? Well that’s what it was kind of like. I smelled this vinegar smell, didn’t think much of it. I was like, somebody’s having a Subway sandwich, or whatever. Go back to listening to my podcast, working on my blog, and I feel something hit my left elbow, and my elbows are on the arm rest. I don’t think anything of it, but I feel it again, so I look down and my left elbow, just imagine your arms on the arm rest; and someone’s foot is right there. And it’s not in a f*cking shoe. This person’s bare feet, with their calluses and their broken toenail, are just sitting there. They’re that; you guys, that’s where the vinegar smell came from. It was not a Subway sandwich; it was someone’s feet. I almost threw up in my seat. And I’m not a person who gags easily. There was gagging. There was gagging occurring after this. So whatever. I’m just leaning to the right side; luckily nobody was sitting to the right of me, so I just lean kind of over into that area. You know, it went away. He would pull his foot back, and then he would put it back up, and I could smell it. You guys, it was just the worst. So I just kept listening to my podcast, Serial; {laughs}. Like, my podcast. Like we’re totes cool now. Anyways.
