Let's Celebrate Life by Godfrey Ransome - Winners Toastmasters Trinidad

6m · Published 12 Aug 12:24

Yes, let’s celebrate life!  And to celebrate life, we must not just be alive but be fully alive; that is, we must find fulfillment and gratification and enjoy whatever we do, no matter how simple, no matter how sublime. Whether it’s making a bake or baking a cake, for Winner’s sake let’s find joy in what we do, just as I now do in front of you.

Each of us is blessed with individual talents. So, it is incumbent upon us to develop them fully and use them productively. The goal is not about being opulent or being adorned with exotic jewelry; it’s simply about multiplying the talents we have as we strive to satisfy our needs and to serve others.

And we can achieve this because we are indeed more formidable and able than we really think we are. But at times we may have permitted mediocrity to creep in and allowed our disappointments and negative experiences to distort our reasoning.

18m · Published 16 Jun 20:33

One question that always comes up for debate is, 'Are Leaders born or made?'

Typically, the response is leaders are born. However as Jamillah David, incoming Area Director for Area 37 says, "At Toastmasters, leaders are Made!"

She would know given her own experience over 9 years being in toastmasters and how she achieved the feat of being President of Winners Toastmasters club and now to take on the leading role of Area Director. all from a starting point of just seeking out a place to hone her skills on debating but more so pushed by her boss, who commented that she was great at the technical side of her job but leadership was an area to work on..

Maybe her story speaks to you. You're invited to listen, share, support and comment. We love to hear from you.
