25m · Published 11 Dec 01:00
Ep.254 - Street names with remarkable origins. Pt 1 Most streets are named for people or places. Sometimes they're connected to the street itself, sometimes not. But once in a while, a street name is a clue to a remarkable piece of history. This new series seeks out incidents so memorable that communities sought to preserve them in their street names. Tonight we travel to three of them: The colorful history behind Gipsy Drive and Stanley Avenue in Dayton; the heartwarming story of "Africa Road" in Delaware County; and the Akron tragedy forever remembered as "Memorial Parkway." www.ohiomysteries.com [email protected] www.patreon.com/ohiomysteries www.twitter.com/mysteriesohio www.facebook.com/ohiomysteries Additional music: New Horizon - Aderin; Audionautix- The Great Unknown; The Great Phospher- Daniel Birch Learn more about your ad choices. Usually operating under the cover of darkness. they would often dig up graves to secure the bodies. Join us as we welcome our special guest, Doug Hullet, a local historian, to learn more about this frequently used practice. Also joining us is local historian Maria Dade.
