The humour stems from our old Jamaican upbringing where children were brought up on similar stories that were often told in schools, at home or found in the children story books. The term Pickney is a term long used by West Indians/Jamaicans to describe young ones or children. The series of these stories are also enjoyable to parents and elders.

The hare is very confident of winning, so it stops during the race and falls asleep. The tortoise continues to move very slowly but without stopping and finally it wins the race.
