1h 57m · Published 25 Jun 11:00
Welcome to episode 43 of the Grapplehook podcast.

We got a lucky break. We haven't spoken about Cyberpunk 2077 for months but it is now making a return to the PS Store. Is the game now fixed? And what's with the warning when you attempt to buy the game?

E3's been and gone but that hasn't stopped EA from planning their next event. The Play Live event is on 22nd July and rumours are flying that a remaster/ remake of Dead Space is due to be announced. Matt's a huge fan of the Dead Space series so this should be good news, right?

Battlefield 4 has seen a huge bump in player count since the reveal of Battlefield 2042. Have Matt & Dan given it another go and what are our impressions of the Battlefield series?

Chinese conglomerate Tencent has made another purchase in the Western gaming sphere and now holds a majority stake in Yager, the team behind the excellent Spec Ops: The Line. With more Chinese money making it's way into Western markets and the ever growing influence this holds on voices speaking out against injustices, are we ok with selling our values to the highest bidder? Matt & Dan tackle this inevitably political topic on the show.

Matt shares his next consideration for the Grapplehook Spotlight (spoiler, it's on GamePass right now!) and Dan shares the games coming out next week.

It's E3 eve and we're seeing plenty of new games being announced!

A new Battlefield game has been revealed and it looks as crazy as ever! A few details have surfaced though that may take the shine of the upcoming release. What do we think about the removal of a single player experience? Plus what's the deal with the £10 extra cost for a current gen version and no ability to upgrade later?

Final Fantasy 14 is trucking along and has recorded a record number of players logging on each day. It's impressive stuff but how is it managing this in a market where game subscription services are a thing and how does it hold up against the MMO goliath WOW?

2h 1m · Published 28 May 11:00
Welcome to episode 39 of the Grapplehook podcast!

Ars Technica has released a report on a "Switch-like" device that Valve are developing . With Nintendo Switch selling gangbusters, will this be a real competitor in this space or will it be a commercial flop?

Timesplitters has been dormant for 16 years but Deep Silver looks to change that with a new studio being created to create a new Timesplitters game. The aptly named Free Radical Design is being headed by the co creators of the original studio - What does this mean? Remakes or a new instalment?

Nintendo has released an Amibo for it's upcoming release Zelda: Skyward Sword HD but the news hasn't gone down well due to some shady business practises. It costs £25 and lets you fast travel in game! Is this a step too far and how come Nintendo seems to get away with what EA & Activision wish they could?

Welcome to episode 37 of the GrappleHook podcast!

Are you one of the many out there struggling to get a PS5 or Xbox Series X? Well, it seems you may be struggling for quite a bit longer. Sony & Microsoft have both out, saying they cannot meet demand and the situation is likely to remain until 2022! How does this effect Sony & Microsoft and will Matt ever get to play Returnal?

A few years back, Capcom was in dire straights but their fortunes have turned around. Games are doing well and the recent Resident Evil 8 is making the big bucks for them - How did they turn it around and what happened to the Resident Evil Franchise to get to where it is now?

Episode 36 - Clash of the titans

2h 20m · Published 07 May 11:00
Welcome to episode 36 of the Grapplehook podcast.

The Epic and Apple lawsuit has begun and we're getting a peek behind the inner dealings of Epic Games.
We know how much Epic paid for each one of their "free games" on the Epic store, how much they paid for Borderlands 3 exclusivity and it's not small change!

We know that Sony didn't want crossplay to be a thing and had assumed that their palms had been greased.. Well, as a result of this case, we know this is now true but how much does it cost each developer and does there seem to be ways around it?

The Last of Us Part 2 is an incredible game, and now we know how Microsoft feel about it - Is it all singing and praising or are Microsoft critical?

Sony & Discord have announced a partnership as Sony becomes a minority shareholder. What does this mean for Discord and could we finally see a fully functional Discord app on consoles?

Microsoft have announced they are cutting the share they take from sales through their store down to 12% in line with Epic. Seeing as Steam is now left at charging 30% cuts, does this pressure mean they will waiver? Will Dan use the Microsoft store as a result of this change? (Probably not!)

Finally, Dan has a recommendation for the Grapplehook Spotlight - Have you played this game before?

Hey everyone and welcome to episode 35 of the Grapplehook Podcast!

Yoshinori Oso has finally left Capcom after 30 years and was seen as the saviour of the Street Fighter franchise on modern day consoles. Will Capcom be lost without him? Who will replace his charismatic persona and where is going to after this?

Last week we discussed the fact that Days gone got it's sequel turned down and a small petition started up. Well, that petition is now over 90K signatures - Can Sony ignore the demand for this game and if they don't want to greenlight the sequel, did they get people's hopes up with a Ps5 patch?

Season 9 of Apex Legends is just around the corner and we saw plenty in the latest trailer. We discus the new character Valkyrie and all her Titanfall lore, the new game mode arena and more!

Matt shares his latest suggestion for the Grapplehook Spotlight and it's very timely given the week....
