JusKeep’s Brian & Omari introduce you to Elisheba Israel Mrozik. Elisheba is a Nashville-based (international award-winning) tattooist, tattoo shop owner, visual artist and community leader. Elisheba’s story of becoming the first licensed black tattoo artist in Middle Tennessee is one that will ignite anyone who is facing roadblocks to pursuing their passion. The ways that she is working to connect her community to the gifts that art can bring to ALL are unique and, of course, extremely creative.

JusKeep talks all things music with rapper and community organizer Mike Floss, who’s based in our very own Music City. Mike Floss sheds light on how he views his artistry as a continually evolving process & the vastness of being a musical artist authentically expressing the full range of the human experience, which for him ranges from kickin’ it on the weekend to protests when the time calls for and everything in between.

The JusKeep team explores the mind & experience of Katie Delmez, senior curator at the Frist Art Museum in Nashville, TN. They talk openly about the often complex dynamics between art institutions & the artists themselves as well as the influence & opportunity that a role like curating possesses. Katie offers some necessary perspective on how to be a bridge instead of a gatekeeper for a broader range of art to be seen.

This week’s episode features entrepreneur extraordinaire & Nashville native, Derrick Moore. Affectionately known to his community as D’mo, he and his business partners have become a nationally-known, black-owned pizza name – Slim & Husky’s. Omari and Brian talk with D’mo about what it takes to start a business from the ground up, the hurdles he’s climbed along the way, and how having a creative perspective on business can expand one successful business into three– and, if we were guessing, more to come!

Omari and Brian dig into some of our culture’s toughest topics with guest Judge Sheila Calloway. As Juvenile Court Judge in Nashville’s metropolitan Davidson County, Judge Calloway is faced with some of the most complex social issues impacting our most vulnerable population - children. They discuss major problems regarding the ways our legal system often has the final word on the fate of someone’s life as well as the opportunities for productive intervention that can occur when criminal justice is coupled with compassion.

Omari and Brian sit down with artist, professor and mentor, Sam Dunson, to discuss how the pandemic impacted the artistic process, the gifts and challenges of being a black artist and the power of mentorship amongst life’s most difficult moments.
In this special kickoff of the JusKeep conversations, you’ll get an insider's look into some of Omari’s most personal life experiences and the ways Sam helped him not only to persevere but provided avenues for Omari to pursue his greatest passions on the other side.
