As Long As We Got Each Other

WELCOME to episode 5! FIVE! That's so exciting and so sad at the same time. It's ok though, because as long as we got each other, we got the world spinnin' right in our hands. Yeah, that does sound familiar, doesn't it? Guess you'll have to listen to figure it out. 

Speaking of listening, it wouldn't be a podcast in 2020 without talking about the pandemic and quarantine living! Beardy McWhiskey, the man who broke up with me and ended our previous podcast is back for another episode of The Talking Place. We discuss a few things, but we focused on what's new with us as we live the quarantine life. We talk about why you're an asshat if you don't wear a mask, Beardy walked us through making an Old Fashioned, and to liven up the mood we talked games! A few were mentioned, along with our thoughts on next gen, but Animal Crossing stood out, of course.

I'm starting to stream games more! I've put Animal Crossing and Pokemon down for a bit and figured I needed to get my survival instincts up. So I've been playing Fortnite and Destiny 2 and streaming it when I do. Nothing crazy, I just hit broadcast and go from there. So check me out on Twitch and subscribe if you'd like.

It's the first call-in show! This week's bonus episode is focused on Black Friday. I sit down all by my onesies and talk about BF and deals and memories and such, recollecting times when I would break night in a line just to save a few bucks. MAN, I love Black Friday. Even though it's technically like all week now, but whatever. I also touch on my thoughts about BF spilling into Thanksgiving, which will always suck but it is what it is. 

It wouldn't be a call-in show without some call-ins so I'd like to thank @RetroRentsAL from The Retro Rents Podcast for being the first to call in and talk Black Friday. Also like to thank Maffia-Thug, co-founder of Veteran Gamers and EZFM community member, for chiming in as well! This was the first time doing this and it was a very spur of the moment thing with not too much notice so the call-ins were appreciated.

Welcome to episode 4 of The Talking Place! It's all about Thanksgiving this week and it's going to be just as tasty as you're expecting. We're going over the entire meal - starters, entrees, sides, desserts, everything - and we're not apologizing for making you hungry. We also talk about our traditions, things we're always cooking or eating every year, it's just a packed episode full of Thanksgivingness.

Joining me is Beardy McWhiskey and DeviousMrMatt once again. They joined me in episode 2 where we talked all about smoking meats, so be sure to check that out if you haven't! Welcome to the first bonus episode of The Talking Place! I'm sure I'll have a lot more to do with these bonus episodes in the future, but this one won't disappoint!

Gotta catch the majority of 'em!

Get the Meat Sweats

Welcome to episode 2 of The Talking Place! Joining me today is my former partner in crime, Beardy McWhiskey, along with one third of the Bad Fodder Figures Podcast, Matt Helmer. By day - or.. night, whenever - they're video gaming fools, but when it comes time to feed their families, they know how to cook their meats. 

This show was recorded back in August, when I was still debating the name of the show. I'm sorry, The Lingering Table. I hardly knew thee. 

It was a blast talking to these two gentlemen about their meat smoking techniques. We went over a lot of info like the differences between smokers, what flavor chips to use with what, their go to meal they prepare when they're looking to impress, tips for beginners, and even a few recipes were discussed! Both shared their favorite Smoked Mac and Cheese recipe and Beardy walked us through his Smoked Chili Cheese Dip. 

Overall, it was a great time and I feel like I'm severely lacking in not having a smoker at my disposal. Can't wait to have these two on again! Something tells me they'll be great conversation closer to Thanksgiving ;)

Welcome to Episode 1!

The very first guest on The Talking Place is the man behind the curtain. If you're a part of the EZFM gaming community, you may know him as Ve6a5. If you're not then allow me to introduce you to Matt Ulvila. 

He is the co-founder of 3thought, a visual communications company that helps businesses with logos, websites, rebranding, graphic design, you name it. 

We discussed different ways to build a brand, going over a few tips on how to get started with ideas, and what to try and aim for with what you want. It's funny how this was recorded back in June but almost everything that was discussed I found myself going through the past few weeks while trying to get The Talking Place up and running. 

There were numerous ways I could've introduced the show but I felt this was the perfect first episode. If you're interested in making a name for yourself by building a more striking presence for your business, help with nailing down the perfect logo, etc, then this one is for you!

It's been a long time coming for this little project of mine. I feel like the thought of it has been bounced around forever, and the actual process of getting it going has been going on for months. But here we are! Episode Zero! The original plan was to have a bunch of episodes up and going when I launched, but yeah, that wasn't happening. Best thing to do was to just take the leap and try flapping. A few months ago I imagined I was going to be all ready, like a plane taking off, all my instruments in sync, me in control flying gracefully through the sky. But in reality I'm that guy in a cardboard plane outfit running off the side of a cliff hoping it works. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

There isn't much to this as it's just an intro of sorts. Letting you know what I'm planning, what to expect, all that good stuff. So sit back, relax, and I hope you enjoy what I try to do.
