Knowledge and Wisdom

22m · Published 07 Jul 19:07

Knowledge and wisdom can often be confused for one another as they are two sides of the same coin. In this episode, we look at how they are different and how we can leverage our knowledge to gain wisdom while we go on to live more satisfying lives.

I've come across some wonderful quotes on this subject - "Knowledge helps you make a living while Wisdom helps you make a life" is one such interesting quote. Author Ken Poirot put it this way - "Wisdom comes from making mistakes, having the courage to face them, and make adjustments moving forward based upon the knowledge acquired through those experiences".

Understanding Employee Motivation

26m · Published 10 Mar 23:18

In this episode, the spotlight is on job satisfaction, morale, and motivation for an employee. What do these terms actually mean, are they given the importance they deserve, and how do you currently score on these counts in your job? I talk about a 3-step journey to start scoring high on the three factors under discussion.

I'm sure you're aware that being unhappy in your job or career has a definite impact on your happiness in other areas of life. Work cannot be isolated from the rest of your life, given it occupies such a large portion of your life. If you're unhappy at work, you've got a lot of company - over 70% of the global workforce is your corner! Sounds rather depressing, doesn't it? But the good news is that you can change your situation. It does take effort, but the result is always worth it!

Talking Leadership with leadership coach Travis Crutcher

26m · Published 22 Feb 17:00

In this episode, I have with me former US Army Ranger Travis Crutcher of Above Average Leadership, as we delve into aspects of leadership that would interest anyone who is either a leader of a team or a team member. We all know that the performance of a team depends a great deal on the kind of leadership that the team experiences, and in our individual lives I'm sure we've all been through the experience of working under a good leader and a not-so-good one!

So strap yourselves in and enjoy this ride as Travis talks about his leadership experience within the military and outside it, and also other issues such as the qualities a good leader should possess, the common mistakes leaders make, the significance of delegation for leaders, and if you're an "accidental leader" you don't want to miss the last part of this interview!
