The impact of auditing on self...and your organisation

26m · Published 15 Nov 09:11

The conversation with Eskom Pension and Provident Fund's Internal Auditor, Relebogile "Lebo" Legalamitlwa was similar to catching up with a dear friend who was placed just at the right time to remind you what passion, purpose and timing mean. Auditing in many a mind is a profession that is quite daunting, especially for those of us who are not in it, however it is crucial to any organisation's success, longevity and the manner in which it operates. Culture, policies, procedures, operations and compliance - those are words that form part of auditing and Lebo shares what the team's role is at EPPF. We also spoke about Lebo's work to help high school learners with Mathematics and Accounting - coming full circle and realising that she was also learning through this journey of life.  To learn more about EPPF, please visit https://www.eppf.co.za

The link between trust, ethics and good governance

It was only after reading the King Report a few years ago that I personally understood the importance of good governance in an organization and the role that risk and compliance played. Levern Forley, is Risk and Complaince Officer at the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund (EPPF) and by listening to her speak about her work and the environment that she is in, you hear the deep passion and pride that she has - and willingness to share her knowledge. An advocate for wellness, women taking ownership of their lives and careers, Levern trusts the journey she is on and the way that it is unfolding.   To learn more about the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund, please visit: https://www.eppf.co.za

Creating Human Experiences within organisations

34m · Published 03 Sep 08:21

My conversation with Shyless Nkuna, Head of Human Resources (Human Experiences) at the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund (EPPF) made my heart smile and reminded me of the times I've met and spoken to people who view HR the way that she does. We not only spoke about her career progression, but Shyless really opened up about the value she knows and believes people bring into an organization. I'm excited to know that EPPF is doing things differently too - moving forward and empowering their staff, not just talking about it but ensuring they follow through.

Kolisa Yola Sinyanya is phenomenal! Our conversation took place in the latter part of 2020 but it will remain forever relevant. A PhD candidate in Oceanography at the University of Cape Town (UCT), Kolisa is a member of UCT’s Advancing Womxn fellowship, Ocean Womxn, a TEDx speaker and a woman who has used the power of social media to share her work with the rest of the world - and opening up a space that encourages conversation, interest and accessibility for young black and brown women especially those who wouldn’t necessarily have thought that there is someone who looks like they do, working in a space that they too can find a way into - and that there will be people who can support them along their journey. Follow @Kolie_Yola @OceanWomxn to stay up to date with news, developments and just have your day brightened up and inspired.

CN to The Rescue - Africa. Representation. Creativity

51m · Published 02 Mar 06:34
CN to the Rescue was Cartoon Network Africa’s newest show on their YouTube channel over the festive season last year (2020). A combination of relatable African humour and fresh, that showed everyday situations in the African household that we can all relate to in some way. Featuring Andre Lembwa, who is a fun-loving, creative and produced by Howard James Fyvie, this Cape Town duo based in Brooklyn, collaborated with the Channel and were able to put together a series that not only allowed them to push their creative limits but also open up a new way of story telling that gave the creators the room to really do something special, not only for themselves for viewers. Dr Mandisa Maholwana - on leadership, the future and the impact of COVID-19

1h 22m · Published 28 Jan 13:41
There are some incredible leaders who live and work amongst us. Whether they are in the really big positions or are a colleague we share work space with, their qualities and character are quite unique and you can’t deny the magnitude of what they do and how they can contribute to the organisation and community. Dr Mandisa Maholwana, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital is quite a wonderful individual to speak. I enjoyed our conversation, the knowledge and insights shared, and the way she beautifully linked different parts of her journey together. I’m looking forward to where the new year takes the hospital, and the paediatric space as a whole in the country and continent.
