Vaccination: A Biblical and Scientific Perspective

1h 19m · Published 29 Jun 06:00

“The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.” (Prov. 18:17)

We (Janny & Samantha) are back at it again with our favorite topic: vaccines. This time, from a biblical perspective. Few subjects cause more controversy than vaccination - even in the church. While some church leaders have stepped out in support of vaccination, voices of opposition or concern are often ignored on the basis that "the science is settled."

We believe such a complex issue warrants further discussion among believers and non-believers alike. However, regardless of where you land on the topic of vaccination, we are calling on the body of Christ to publicly support the religious freedoms that allow Christians to live in accordance with the guiding of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The freedom to opt out of all or some vaccines is one such issue.

We hope this episode will provide some much needed context for this issue and prompt you to discuss this with other believers.

Episode topics:
3:00 - Summary of four takeaways for this episode
8:45 - Immunity (natural vs artificial)
12:30 - Vaccines as a contributor to decline in infectious disease
14:20 - A note on the immunocompromised
17:10 - Vaccine adverse event reporting

25:40 - Herd immunity

41:15 - CDC whistleblower and Andy Wakefield
45:25 - Aborted fetal tissue (ethical and health implications)
55:45 - Should Christians be skeptical of the CDC, HHS, or vaccine manufacturers?
1:01:20 - Christians and the common good
1:06:45 - Vaccines as "God's gift," moral responsibility

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

PCOS & Food: Insulin resistance and pre-diabetes

1h 4m · Published 03 Mar 08:00

Continuing the theme of PCOS, Dr. Young joins this episode to discuss my most recent struggle: food. Historically, food hasn't been a source of stress for me as I tend to eat intuitively and focus on ingredient quality instead of scouring the nutrition label.

Unfortunately for me, I have a genetic tendency toward diabetes so we've kept an eye on my blood sugar levels and insulin resistance which were getting worse. Today we're talking about why that happened to me and how we began to address it.

Dr. Young is also sharing tips on how to find a doctor to best serve you, and even offers the ability to help those who perhaps need a doctor to listen, run the proper labs and develop a strategy to address health concerns from the root level.

A Crunchy Convo with Dr Courtney Kahla

1h 18m · Published 02 Feb 18:00

If you follow along on instagram, you probably need no introduction to Dr. Courtney Kahla. My dear friend agreed to help me launch the "why" behind this podcast and how similar we are with our values and how we choose product endorsements to how we differ personality wise.

She's the transparent soul sharing vulnerable parts of her life and a believer in our bodies' innate ability to heal...and she's a little crunchier than me!

You can find the audio transcript of this podcast and all products/codes mentioned on the blog post here: http://www.jannyorganically.com/blog/2019/2/2/a-crunchy-convo-with-dr-courtney

Childhood Cancer & Mandated Chemotherapy with Jeff Witzeman

1h 18m · Published 01 Feb 08:00

Today, we're talking about childhood cancer and chemotherapy, specifically mandated chemotherapy for children in remission, where there is no such requirement for adults. My guest is Jeff Witzeman, director of the film Flipping the Script: When Parents Fight Back, and he is going to share the how and why behind the U.S. medical system's mandates; something most people aren't aware of. I know I wasn't.

Before you say this doesn't apply to you, because you don't have cancer, you don't have kids, you don't have kids with cancer, believe me, you'll still get priceless information out of this podcast; I cannot tell you how much more empowered and informed I feel should this happen to me or my family.

The blog post with a transcript of our conversation is here: http://www.jannyorganically.com/blog/2019/2/16/jeff-witzeman-flipping-the-script

Vaccine Hesitancy & The Global Health Threat with Samantha Lynn

1h 46m · Published 27 Jan 08:00

A Semi-Live Podcast on a Fully Controversial Topic

Some of you know I've been hinting at launching a podcast. The plans were to launch mid-march, but I felt called to GO NOW despite how informal it will be; i.e., my art work isn't done and I'm not actually listed on Apple Podcasts or Google Play, etc. yet, but instead, you can listen to the audio embedded within my blog post until all the official elements are in place.

So what happened? The World Health Organization announced their 2019 Global Health Threats which included: Vaccine Hesitancy

The New York Times Editorial Board then wrote an appeal/game plan to "Inoculate Against Anti-Vaxxers" which is a gross misrepresentation of actual fact. The article is actually void of facts, yet the messages are being spread far and wide.

My friend and fellow health advocate Samantha Lynn put many projects (and our sleep) aside this week to respond. We know this is a highly polarizing and misunderstood topic but as the NYT article admits, most people (98%) fall along a spectrum of questioning vaccines and their safety, and are NOT in fact ANTI-VAXX.

We wanted to highlight this and many of the reasons for this spectrum including the major role played by the pharmaceutical industry's influence, the lack of safety studies the government were instructed to conduct and the basic history of disease elimination and how these play a role in introducing legislation to strip our medical freedoms away.

Our full blog post (and the audio) with more details and sources mentioned in this podcast are listed here:
