Introducing Cold The Search For Sheree

9m · Published 22 Feb 08:00
Introducing Cold The Search For Sheree
Sheree Warren left her job in Salt Lake City on a mild October evening in 1985.
She told a coworker she was headed to meet her estranged husband, Charles
Warren, at a car dealership. But she never made it, Sheree vanished. When her
car mysteriously surfaced weeks later, hundreds of miles away in Las Vegas, no
one could say how it got there.
When a young mother disappears under unexplained circumstances, police
always turn suspicious eyes towards the husband. And although there was
distrust around Charles Warren, he wasn’t the only suspect when Sheree went
missing. She also had a boyfriend, a former cop named Cary Hartmann, who
lived a sinister double life.
Season three follows two suspects– men who both raised suspicion for
investigators. But with two strong persons of interest with competing facts and
evidence, it muddied the murder investigation. This season, host Dave Cawley,
digs into the lives of these two men, the details of the case and examines the
intersections between domestic abuse and sexual violence. The COLD team
seeks to answer the question: what really happened to Sheree Warren?

Episode 9 Rebecca Love and Libby Squire
Rebecca Love and Libby Squire In today’s episode we go across the pond to discuss two cases from the University of Hull, in the UK. Rebecca Love, a graduate student, was murdered in her dorm room at the college in 2007. Libby Squire, an undergraduate, was abducted while walking alone on the streets of Hull in 2019. The cases are very different, with Rebecca’s killer being a love interest, and Libby’s killer being a stranger. But both women were alone and vulnerable when they were attacked and killed right in the middle of a bustling university town – reminders that students need to heed the warning signs and look out for one another while they are far from home.

Pam Milam

35m · Published 29 Oct 11:00
Episode 4 Pam Milam
In this episode we discuss a truly devastating campus murder – the 1972 abduction, rape and slaying of college student Pam Milam. Pam was enjoying sorority rush week at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. She attended some evening events with her friends, and left a party before midnight to go move her car closer to the dormitory suite. She never returned. The next day her father located her distinct vehicle parked in a different spot, and in the trunk was Pam, bound and strangled. Authorities looked at numerous suspects, including a fellow student who abducted and raped at least 2 women, but the case went cold. Forensic Genealogy conducted decades later pointed to a suspect no one had ever considered – multiple offender Jeffrey Lynn Hand. We will take a look at Hand, and the nexus between the violent rapist and killer and the promising young woman whose life he snuffed out.
