You Shower Too Often But Can Never Helicopter Enough

1h 15m · Published 23 May 10:33

You are showering too often. Helicopters are insane. Soap is ancient magic chemistry.

This time around, Trace tells everyone all about cleanliness while attempting to dodge the wellness and clean eating industry zealots. Then, Julian geeks out on the wild engineering of helicopters AND debunks a related meme about jets going to the gym.

QUESTIONS

Trace: "How clean is too clean?" from NeatNit

Julian: "What would happen if you kept a helicopter stationary in the air for 12 hours?" from Amanda

AND Julian answers a BONUS question “A jumbo jet is on a treadmill. The treadmill is programmed to move at the exact speed of the planes wheels in the opposite direction. Can the plane take off?” from Brock

Do you have an absurd question? Maybe it's silly idea you had, a shower thought about the nature of reality, or a ridiculous musing about your favorite food? If you want an answer, no matter the question, tell us!

1h 27m · Published 09 May 10:33

Simon: "Could we colonize a breathable gas giant?" from Drew

Trace: "Why do cats have different numbers of toe beans on their front and back paws?" from Simon

THE ABSURD-IVERSARY LIGHTNING ROUND SPECTACULAR!!!!

1h 18m · Published 02 May 10:30

🎉 Happy Anniversary to us!! 🎊

It’s been one year since we launched That's Absurd Please Elaborate and what an absurdly fun ride it's been. To celebrate we tweaked the show just a bit. Our special guest, producer/editor Kyle Sisk, has selected six listener-submitted questions for Julian and Trace to answer.

The catch? They only have five minutes to do their research.

I know right?

Important Reminder: This format means our hosts cannot spend hours fact checking their answers. Typically we do our best to make sure the science and concepts we present on the show are accurate. We add sources our answers and spend a lot of time checking our facts and figures so we feel comfortable. All that is out the window here. This is important for you to know. From us. We don’t want to be wrong, but if we’re wrong — know we did it for the sake of a fun, lighthearted adventure through several absurd questions. Thanks for coming with us on this journey!

We all really hope you enjoy this anniversary special. Thank you all for being listeners. Whether this was your first episode, or your 31st we really are absolutely blown away by you all being a part of this show.

🎂

QUESTIONS

“Would it be possible to write my name on the moon with a laser?” from Sean

“Could we pop the earth?” from Edward

“How far does my car go on the average dinosaur?” from JW

“What is the fastest movement a human can make under their own power?” from Ben

“What food makes the best building material?” from Mark

“Prove you exist, go on prove it.” from Susan

Thank you again to all our listeners who submit such excellent questions.

Do you have an absurd question? Maybe it's silly idea you had, a shower thought about the nature of reality, or a ridiculous musing about your favorite food? If you want an answer, no matter the question, tell us!
