Tim talks more about the legacy of Virginia Robinson, her life at the estate, the philanthropic programs she started that continue to benefit the community to this day, and her connections to the cultural and political world of LA through the mid to late 20th Century. They also talk about more about the flora and fauna of the property and how the Robinson estate became an important destination for botanists, zoologists and historians from all over the world. LOST ANGELES Episode 9 features the first of a two-part conversation between Host Laura Craven and special guest TIM LINDSAY, the superintendent of the VIRGINIA ROBINSON GARDENS, the unique historic landmark estate and exotic paradise in Beverly Hills. This hidden gem “house museum,” built in 1911, was the first luxury estate in Beverly Hills and it remains an important part of the cultural and ecological history of Los Angeles. Tim Lindsay is a fountain of historical, architectural and horticultural knowledge and he has taken care of this entire six-acre property for over 20 years. On part 1, Laura and Tim talk about Virginia Robinson and the Robinson family, the various types of gardens around the estate, and the interior furnishings of the house itself, left intact and preserved since it became a public museum in 1977.
