Millionaire ElisabethCongdon and her nurse,VelmaPietila, were found murdered in their home in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1977. Police learned thatCongdon’s daughter Marjorie Caldwell had a long history of financial problems and debt. Based on the evidence collected in the investigation, Caldwell and her husband Roger were arrested. However, at trial Caldwell was acquitted and Roger's conviction was overturned by the supreme court five years later.
