#28: Clay Reisler - Digital Learning Specialist at Pulaski High School

For episode 28, Taylor is joined by Clay Reisler, the Digital Learning Specialist at Pulaski High School, in the Polka Captial of the world, Pulaski, Wisconsin. Clay uses social media and technology to connect with the world, individualize instruction, innovate classrooms with technology and to support 70 teachers and administration to tell stories. He has created a great resource for his district and beyond with his Twitter and Instagram accounts, along with his Youtube channel, blog, iPaddiction and podcast, EdVanage.  Clay has cultivated a strong storytelling movement at Pulaski using Class Intercom and use of their Twitter hashtag, #radarstrong. He tells his students, “This isn’t our high school," meaning it’s not our adult's high school. "It's your high school and it’s yours to tell the story, so get after it!”  He also emphasizes the importance of the "4 C's": Collaboration, critical thinking,  creation, and communication.  He states,"It’s everything that drives us. #27: Bekah Vought - Digital / Social Media Assistant at Indiana University

Bekah Vought, of Three Lakes, Wisconsin works at Indiana University as their Digital / Social Media Assistant, where she executes social creative ideas for IU’s 24 athletic teams. This year, she worked with College GameDay, involving live content, as well as Instagram and Snapchat stories, Periscope, Facebook Live, and Instagram Live. No day is the same for Bekah, as her job changes from season to season; covering football games, live-tweeting volleyball games, creating GIFS for use on Twitter, and managing Indiana's Basketball team’s Instagram page. Her journey to success involved hard work and determination, as she used her Advertising / Journalism degree to land an internship at Oregon State Universtiy, to later sending her resume around the country to D1 schools, and finally receiving a 'yes' from the Indiana Hoosiers. “It just takes one person to believe in you and that changed my whole perspective.” She stated. “Every path is different, there is no right or wrong way to do something.” Bekah values meaningful conversation and building genuine connections. Laura knows the ins and outs of education in a small school from her 26 years of experience as a teacher, instructional coach and principal. She shares insight into how she maximizes the opportunity in a small school by consistently tweeting words of encouragement at 7 a.m., creating an in-school challenge and reward for teachers and students to discover new ideas on Twitter and how to build an online professional network. Laura believes in digital citizenship and sharing stories. She states,"The future is making connections and knowing how to responsibly use technology.
