Double Feature - with Rochelle Lindquist

17m · Excuse Me, I Have Something To Say · 26 Oct 02:01

In this special little bonus episode cut from our Halloween Special - Halloween Queers & Queens Shaun and Rochelle take a second to look at some of our more recent Queer horror icons.

Including Kevin Williamson and how he not only re-invigorated the horror Genre for a new generation but also hid some pretty Queer content and characters in plain sight.

From the Scream franchise to I know what you did last summer, the Vampire Diaries, Halloween H2O Williamson has had his finger in many a Halloween pie and our screens are better for it.

Tune in now to hear all about it and a few more other spooky stories.

A Creepy Christmas

The festive season is a time to be jolly and revel in Holiday traditions that our families have celebrated for years. We even spread Christmas cheer by singing loud and clear for all to hear. From Christmas Carolers to Krampus. The Yule Cat to a malevolent Goblin from Southern Europe. We’ve got the Tea on all these spooky Christmas traditions and more.

The Smart Dyslexic - with Che Turner

This week on Excuse me we’re going to be talking about something that effects approximately 15% of all people. Dyslexia. Dyslexia doesn’t discriminate as it occurs in people of all genders and backgrounds. Dyslexia occurs in every language spoken and from every country. And most people don’t even know that they live with it.

Today's Guest is a great friend of mine who is an advocate for spreading awareness and dismantling the stigma that surrounds Dyslexia. Che Turner. Che is the founder of the smart dyslexic. Where his goal is to help others with dyslexia gain a deeper understanding of the challenge, so they can live productive and fulfilling lives. Che recently shared his own Dyslexia story online with the British Dyslexia Association in an incredibly personal and touching article. Che is also working a little something incredible that will potentially change the game for anyone who has dyslexia.

The Queen of Hearts & her Kryptonite - with Sahara Beck

This week on Excuse me, Shaun is sitting down with one of his favorite Australian Musicians, The Queen of hearts, Herself... Sahara Beck.

Sahara Beck is a QLD based musician and performer who has quite rightfully won her fair share of accolades over the years, including 2019’s regional song of the year for “Here we go again” a song which also saw her score third for the Vanda & Young global songwriting competition that same year.

Sahara is a unique artist who produces music that encompasses all kinds of genres. with lyrics that are as heartfelt and earnest as they are progressive and a voice that has the ability to lift you up whilst simultaneously breaking your heart.

If you aren’t familiar with Sahara’s body of work, then I encourage you to go and listen to her solid back catalogue once this episode is over. Some l highlights from Sahara are “Spinning Time” and “Tapping on the roof” from the 2016 album “Panacea” the entire “Queen of Hearts” EP and more recently the singles “Crave me” “Stillness” and a Hauntingly beautiful cover of Wheatus’ “teenage dirtbag” which can all be found on Sahara’s latest EP “and her Kryptonite”
