Episode 4: Signs of People Pleasing Traits and How to Overcome them

37m · Authentically SwitchedON-The Podcast · 13 Jul 04:45

Once upon a time ( sometimes I still am),  I was a major people-pleaser — a real pushover. I didn’t know where other people ended and I began, and my decisions were based on what would make other people happy or comfortable. I thought this made me easy going, likable, and generally pretty cool.

Little did I know that it really just made me lost, confused, and pretty unlikable. You see, when you go through life as a pleaser, you aren’t living on your own terms. You think you’re being nice, agreeable, and drama-free, but keeping your true self beneath the surface doesn’t do anyone any favors. It just results in you being surrounded by rude, selfish, and unforgiving people who, instead of appreciating that you’ve put their needs first, treat you like a doormat.

On today's episode I get to discuss people pleasing traits and how they have affetcted me in my life. I get to dive into understanding this concept, the quencequencies related to it, factors that come in play when we are living with it and tips on how to overcome people pleasing traits.

Hope you enjoy and let me know how you have found the episode.

Introducing The Unlocking Our Mental Prison & Cultivating Healing Series

Happy Women's Month.

This series is a 4 weeks long (4episodes) series where I get to have conversations with some of the wonderful everyday people I had the opportunity to meet and are my inspirations in life.

Everyday I am Inspired by how as human beings we are able to rise above all odds that were against us and like phoenix rise from the ashes that were meant to bury us & show up liberated and more resilient than ever before.

My hope for this series is that we would have genuine open conversations where we are able to learn from each other and hold space for joy and healing and to know that; even in suffering, we are worthy of love, peace, joy and freedom.

Episode 5: The Gift Book Review

The book is written by Dr. Edith Eva Ever, a holocaust survivor of Auschwitz. She is 92yrs young and holds a doctorate in Psychology.
Dr. Eger shares the horrors of life at Auschwitz along with personal stories of struggles from her clients in an effort to help others heal from every day challenges we all face. It is such a hopeful book and provides inspiration even in the darkest of times. Dr. Eger really makes you feel like you can beat the worst of odds because she has done it herself!!

She discuss 12 techniques to help you break out of your personal prison and find freedom to live your best life, no matter what your past experiences were.

Throughout the whole book, all I kept saying to myself is, I can't believe that Dr. Eger could have had a past like she did and still be so positive and encouraging to others today! I also kept on reflecting to my own life experiences and getting a chance to actually revisit my own past and unlearn while learning to give myself the gift of forgiveness and grace.

The Key note in this book for me are:

· The ultimate key to freedom is to keep becoming who you truly are

· Forgiveness is the gift you give to yourself.

Without giving away too much on the book, I will be sharing with you 6 lessons that realy resonated with me from the 12 lessons shared to save your life from The Gift.
