WeMakeTheFunny.com presents: Let's Chat Comedy with KL Thomas!On this episode KL speaks with Mike LeBruna about "The Upside"; a story that came from the experiences of Mike LaBruna: writer/hopeless romantic/outlaw from that time he got pulled over in Tennessee. Three years ago he found out that he was in fact one of the clichés he was afraid of becoming. The gay guy that moves to New York city, has a WILD time and a year later he gets HIV. Life is funny that way, therefore he decided to laugh about it! The Upside started as a way to make HIV more relatable and understanding in a world where there is still a stigma of "dirtiness" but through writing about his friends and experiences it quickly became something so much more; an outrageous and devilish story about making terrible life decisions and being okay with that, before moving forward and learning. The goal of the writing is shameless honesty. Like when you’re laying in bed drunk at 3am on a Tuesday you think to yourself, “I should probably change a few things with my life.” And then tomorrow happens you tell yourself you’re going to start going to the gym not today but NEXT Wednesday.
