E9 Stéphanie Mitrano-Meda: Strategic Mentoring and Feminine Values

44m · How I met my Mentor · 09 Feb 18:00

Our 9th mentor is ✨ Stephanie Mitrano- Meda✨.  Stephanie is Senior Partner, Culture Copilot, Executive Coach and Keynote Speaker at Innovation Copilots. She is also a mentor and teaches the Women Leadership programme at the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University.

We learn with her in this episode about emotions in the workplace, feminine values in the corporate culture, and strategic mentoring.

Her main focus lies on creating a safe space in companies and organisations, by helping people channelling their emotions and bringing in feminine values. We learn from her how to be more emotionally empowered, understanding the core of our feelings and how to navigate them. The trigger of our emotions is inside us and "when we do not understand the message of the emotion, we may react in an automatic way".

The balance between feminine and masculine values plays an important role in the overall matter of employee wellbeing within an organisation. "Feminine values such as empathy, learning communities, emotional safety, authentic expression and mindset agility in their work practices is now especially important in these uncertain times", and same applies to mentoring. Stephie explains how mentoring strengthens the networks within companies and has a great impact on the business strategy since it creates more resilient connections during times of crisis.

E16: Jessica Geutner. Fostering an inclusive workplace culture.

Our 16th mentor is ✨Jessica Geutner✨, a powerhouse in the automotive and tech industries.

She is from Germany, studied engineering 💡 and has over 11 years of experience in the automotive industry and 3 in tech. Both are male-dominated industries which have taught her how to navigate gender stereotypes in the workplace and how to overcome them 💪.

She is currently the vice president of a strategic customer ad sales force💼, but, when she was an executive assistant, she had to face many challenges because of being a woman in a man’s world. However, this didn’t stop Jessica and she didn’t let sexist stereotypes get in the way of her career💫.

Jessica talks about the need for fostering an inclusive and diverse environment in the workplace and how we need to collaborate 🤝 with one another to achieve this goal. She also mentions the different approaches she took to seek support and mentorship and how once she found the right environment for her, she really benefitted from it. Jessica knows how much courage 💗 it can take to approach a mentor, but also how overcoming this struggle can have a very positive impact.

We discuss the presence of women in the workplace and especially in leadership roles, the benefits of mentorship and how not to let negativity bring you down🔥. Jessica is all for empowering underrepresented voices and so are we. Curious to hear Jessica’s story? Click play ▶️ and enjoy😉.

E15: Merida Miller. A Fearless 'empowerer'

Our 15th mentor is the incredible ✨Merida Miller ✨, a fearless “empowerer” and problem solver.

She is originally from the East coast of the USA but has been based in Amsterdam for the last four years. She started her career journey in fashion 👗 and is now the founder of a non-profit organization that has the mission to empower young girls 💫.

After 7.5 years working as an advanced concept designer for Underarmour, Merida decided to shift her career and was drawn to create an organization driven by her never-ending desire to grow and impact others🤝. This is how Project Fearless came to be, a non-profit that strives to mentor, coach, empower and encourage any type of girl from ages 9 to 14 to discover themselves and find their own voice.

One of Merida’s biggest life discoveries is that role models come in all ages, and we learn from her to trust our own instincts when it comes to creating our career paths 💼. She shares how she paid attention to what were the situations in which she was her best and happiest self 💗, in order to make the necessary changes in her life that lead her to shift her career into one that allows her to do what she does best and loves the most.

We discuss the importance of role models and how they come in all shapes and sizes. Also, how every experience is a learning one and how precious it is to create and belong to spaces where we empower each other 👩🏽‍💼👩🏼‍💼.

E14 Bela Stankova: Soft-skills, the skills that can break or make your career

For our 14th episode we have✨Bela Stankova ✨ as our mentor, originally from Bulgaria and based in Belgrade. She is a Leadership 💡 and Executive Coach 💼 specialized in Leadership Development, Executive Presence, Productivity and Career Advancement 💫.

Bela started her career in HR and quickly climbed up the corporate ladder🎢. Later in her career, she became an entrepreneur with her own coaching practice, where she shares her unique down-to-earth 🌎 and practical approach. During this journey, one of her biggest learnings is that work is not everything, it is always important to align with your inner priorities and your energy 💜.

As an expert in soft skills, we learn from Bela that these are "skills that can break or make your career". Credentials, experience and personality trades will get you a job but, do you want to advance in your career? 🤔 Then invest in growing your soft skills 💪🏼. We discuss amongst others: Internal self-confidence, being politically savy, build partnerships and selected vulnerability 💕.

We navigate with Bela the difference and connection between mentorship 🌺 (for advice), sponsorhip 🙋🏽‍♀️(more transactional and that believes in your potential) and coaching👩🏽‍💼👩🏼‍💼 (to find answers from the inside out). She definitely recommends us to have the three of them, to keep growing both personally and professionally ☀️.

Do you want to learn about soft skills that will move you forward? She shares with us lots of tools and tips that you can apply. Also we reflect together on self-awareness, being consistent with who you are and selecting your priorities. Intrigued? Click play ▶️ and enjoy 😉
