Interview with Duane Humeyestewa and Kyle Sumatzkuku
In this episode, I chat with Duane Humeyestewa and Kyle Sumatzkuku (both Hopi). Kyle is a Native American endurance runner from the Hopi tribe in Northern Arizona recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to enable his travel and participation in the 125th Boston Marathon on October 11, 2021. The goal of the campaign is to raise funds that will cover the long trip from Moenkopi, Arizona to Boston, Massachusetts.
Duane Humeyestewa is tracking Kyle on this journey with a documentary project, stated, "As Hopi people, we have the inherent strength and resilience to run the highest mesas and hike the highest mountains, so running and finishing a marathon is a testament of that endurance built into our DNA. We can’t let anything stop us from achieving our dreams."
