The Bonus Mom Journey

Stepping into the new role of becoming a Mother is scary enough as is, but what about the journey when you step into a family as a child's Bonus/Step parent?  Now those are waters many people don't hear enough about.

Guest: Alyssa Blue
Alyssa is currently a stay at home mom of two to Christian (9) and Camryn (6mo).  She’s married to a musician in the Army, and they are currently stationed in Germany.  In a former life, Alyssa taught high school English and spent several years in the world of education.  She is currently working on her MBA with graduation on the horizon in December.  Alyssa has a passion for adventures with her husband and kids, good food and quality cocktails, and reading any book she can hold with one hand while breastfeeding.

We hope you enjoy this episode and find something you can relate to in the journey of being or becoming a Bonus/Step parent.

If you’ve listened to other episodes then I’m sure you’ve heard my struggles with getting our 4.5 year old out of our bed!  That’s where the amazing Jennie Boone with Tiny Duck Parenting comes in.  She did it! She taught and coached us on how to get Q in her bed and excited for sleep, plus no more nighttime diaper!! Be sure to follow my Instagram highlight to see how it went day by day!

Let's talk Boobs!

Let's talk about these wonderful things!  I don't know about you, but breastfeeding was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I've ever had since becoming a mother.  This journey of nursing my children was filled with so much struggle so I wanted to invite Jacqueline on the show to help share some tips, tricks and information about breastfeeding in the hopes that it makes someone else's journey with breastfeeding just a tiny bit easier.

Jacqueline Kincer is the founder of Holistic Lactation, a private lactation practice & herbal supplement company based in Phoenix, Arizona. She's also the host of the popular podcast Breastfeeding Talk: Milk. Motherhood. Mindset. Jacqueline is trained as a Lactation Consultant and Orofacial Myologist, focusing her practice on facilitating functional breastfeeding for babies with orofacial challenges.

Coming out of the Pandemic Fog

The pressures of Motherhood have always been overwhelming but after this last year...its even heavier than before.  Join me and my guest, Colleen Dorton as we discuss ways to get out of this "pandemic fog" we've been stuck in and to take back control of your health!

Colleen is the owner of @balance_and_bean, and spent 12 years in the corporate “fast lane”. While it may have looked glam on the outside, on the inside, she was a burnt-out mess living on caffeine and skipping lunches. When her daughter was born, it put her body over the edge. She suffered from postnatal depletion and lacked the tools and information to feel well. Since then, she's made it her mission to understand why moms of babies, toddlers and young children are so fatigued and sick today. Colleen works with moms to replenish their bodies with good, real food, re-examining their relationship to stress, and rebuilding a lifestyle that’s nourishing... so they can feel like themselves again - only better!
