After 367 podcast episodes recorded at LA Radio Studio, today is the "Final Broadcast." As such, we invited co-hosts from shows past to visit, and visit they did. In the studio, Gonzo Greg Spillane, Kelly Bennett, Kellie Sue Peters, Stew Herrera, Mike Walters, Dale Lopes, Intern Ricky and of course, Phil Hulett. On the phone, Jay (Call me Jayson) Campadonia, Kelly J, Lisa May, Brooke Peterson, Chris Martin and Katie Elsasseur. Every one of them celebrating LA Radio Studio and our show's long podcast run at this location.

Executive Producer, Mike Stark decided this would be the day he would shut down the studio on his terms. Redevelopment of our harbor side shopping district, Ports O'Call in San Pedro, California, is being demolished to make way for a new development called the San Pedro Public Market. Big mistake, but that's another story. Today is a day of celebration. We also did a show! Subscribe to hear both parts!

Los Angeles Radio favorite, Lisa May checks in to talk about what fun she had co-hosting the show days after she was let go from her 2-decade radio home. Phil asks her why at her new radio job she doesn't get the respect she deserves! Listen to Lisa's gracious answer. She's the best!
Next Nancy Randal is the co-owner of a store that buys and sells LEGOs! She checks in to talk about this unique concept and why she and her female business partner are making history.
Former PHAF Producer, Brooke Peterson phones in from the east coast to reminisce about the week she joined the show in 2014. She can't wait to get back and co-host the show again.
Live from Honolulu, Chris Martin talks about getting wet on the show and becoming more of the man he is today because of his time in the studio. Phil also double-checks Chris' relationship status, just in case you wanted to know!

You've heard about the "see something, say something" policy , right? How about "smell something, tell someone?" Out of the ashes of the Carr Fire comes stories of miracles as well as animal kingdom enemies putting their differences, and tasty flavor, aside, to comfort each other in the wildfire aftermath. Did you hear the one about the guy who stole a shark from the zoo? It's not a joke.

Happy Birthday Intern Ricky! Plus there's the return of "Alf. How to get a free Big Mac at McDonald's. We often wonder why our dogs stare at us when we poop. Now there's science to explain it, and you'll love your dog even more when you hear the reason. And finally, crocheted shorts for men is a thing. 

 

Essential Oils and Swimming with Whale Sharks

Essential oils are all the rage, but are they truly useful? Author, coach and comedian, Jen Coken reveals [29:46] some recipes she's uncovered for safe and effective insect repellents, sun blocks and pain relievers with nothing but natural ingredients. She provides a way for you to receive a free list of useful recipes that use essential oils. She's a funny lady, too. Her book is called, "When I Die, Take My Panties." Yup, there's a good explanation for that title.

[10:20] This week is the 30th year Discovery Channel has broadcast a week's worth of shark-related programming. they call it "Shark Week." A friend of the show is celebrating in a big way. Susie Selby of Selby Winery is a big time diver. We didn't know that. She checks in, soaking wet, on a boat off the coast of Isles Mujeres, Mexico to talk about her dive with a pod of whale sharks! Wow!

Kelly J joins Phil Hulett at the studio in his house. LA Radio Studio is being dismantled while this episode is recorded. The hope is to find a new home for the historic studio equipment soon. Stay tuned. Meantime, stories this hour include, R. Kelly's sex cult. Then there's the zoo that tried to pass off a painted mule as a zebra. Ladies, there's cash in your arm pits! From the "Somebody died, try not to laugh" department, a serial killer accidentally kills himself. The United States has more meat and cheese than it know what to do with. Wild animal attacks! Time to thin the herd?

Stories of deadly animal attacks on humans are on the rise. Have wildlife conservation laws outlived their usefulness? [19:54] Bruce Hemming is the author of the book, "4 Seconds Until Impact: The Skyrocketing Attacks by Predators on Humans." He thinks it's time to remind wild animals who's boss. He has some choice words for Animal Rights activists, too!

Joining Phil at his home studio, yes it's a temporary solution now that the Port of Los Angeles has begun the process to demolish LA Radio Studio, is Kelly J and Intern Ricky. Kelly brings a stack of stories to the table. How about the latest thing stupid people are trying? It's the "In My Feelings" challenge. Apparently there's a new way to exercise at the gym...if you want to get arrested! Ladies! Want to grow your buttocks to epic proportions? We found a lady who is on a special diet that she believes will crown her the biggest ass on earth. We believe she already is. See what we did there?
Plus these stories: A waitress body-slams a man who groped her. Water cups are not for soda. This concept was lost on a McDonald's customer and what followed was a fight for the ages. While at McDonald's, why not get a free bag of fries? We'll tell you how. The now former 2nd oldest woman on earth is happy today. Scientists have figured out how to reverse wrinkles and hair loss! Wait a minute, why wasn't that the headline? A newborn baby qualifies for food for life and a guaranteed job. And finally, Mayonnaise Ice Cream is a thing.

A Call for Extra Training for Muscle Car Drivers

We love muscle cars at Phil Hulett and Friends. But [29:35] Phil wonders if it's time to start requiring additional driver training for folks who buy cars with 600 to 900+ horsepower under the hood. To get perspective on the muscle car arms race and what it takes to drive a super powerful car, Danny Bullock from The Bob Bondurant School of High-Performance Driving checks in from their track in Chandler, AZ. Phil is pretty sure Danny promised to teach him how to do a reverse 180! Hooo-weee!
