Chat with Shumin about Charlie the 4WD Dog

33m · Aussie Pets 2020 · 29 Nov 07:50

I met Shumin and her husband some years ago, so when I got a chance to prerecord an episode, chatting about the 4WD Westie, I jumped at it. Our casual chat covered many topics from how to prepare for travelling with a dog, what is required to make sure all goes well. What to look out for, even how to choose a pet, as well as training when time is limited. With Charlie being a minor celebrity and his Mum and Dad both fantastic Hosts & Presenters on TV I learnt a lot myself.

Following are things spoken about, of course you can contact us if you have any questions. Importantly if you feel you have a career or experience which other Aussie Pet Owners can benefit from with any aspect of any kind of pet please message us. We will do our best to fit you into our schedule in late 2020, we're always looking for more interesting Professionals and Pet Owners to chat to in 2021.

Unusual Pets need "Unusual Vets"

Dr Shane Simpson is well known amongst the reptile keeping community as “The Reptile Doctor” and brings his wealth of experience in the field of reptile and amphibian medicine and surgery to The Unusual Pet Vets. He regularly presents on the topic to fellow veterinarians, veterinary nurses and reptile keepers both here in Australia and internationally. In addition, he has contributed to several veterinary text books, held positions on animal ethics committees and does a considerable amount of work training wildlife rehabilitators about caring for injured reptiles.

When not working at The Unusual Pet Vets, Shane can be found just up the road still treating dogs and cats at Karingal Veterinary Hospital where he is also a co-owner of the practice.

Shane has a diverse reptile collection that his wife and two daughters are OK with as long as they stay behind the glass. He also has a big, dopey Bloodhound Cross dog named Butter.
