We talk about their gender resistance and the impositions placed on us by a society obsessed with conscripted gender roles. We delve into their witchiness and how it manifested. Samuel challenges what many seem to think is normal and hopes this journey leads them to finally retire and rest in the new year.

Episode 14 - Becoming an Adult with Mariel Kanene

Mariel shares his growth and what made him into the complex creative adult he is today. This Congolese-born brother is going through very familiar struggles that many of us can relate to when adulting. It’s his vulnerability and reflection that sets him apart and keeps him going. He gives us tales of political battles during school in Texas and a scary story of getting back from Tanzania at the beginning of the pandemic.

Episode 13 - The self-proclaimed, "Hood Theo Huxtable" with Kahlil Green

Kahlil comes from Arlington, TX and moved into academia in the DC area. He is pushing hard to make sure Black folks are no longer abused by the United States. He is outraged that this is still an issue. This recent author tells the story of the nuances of being a Black man in his book Stereotypes of the Black Male: Changing the Narrative for Misunderstood Black Males One Story at a Time. Also, this Phd student schools us on how social work can be seen through the lens of his passions hip-hop and spoken word.
