We decided to focus this season on understanding the fundamentals of trauma. The first episode of season 3 is focused on getting a better understanding of what different events of trauma can look like. 

Discussion: Can you relate?  Were you able to identify any incidents of trauma & what do you do to cope with it?

Next episode will focus on how trauma effects on brain and the symptoms we may feel when we are experiencing trauma.

Mental Mini: ACEs

Happy Saturday Minis! On our mental Mini today we are discussing Averse Childhood Experiences or ACEs. An ACE score is a tally of different types of abuse, neglect, and other hallmarks of a rough childhood. Adverse childhood experiences, or ACEs, are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood (0-17 years). ACEs can have lasting, negative effects on health, well-being, and opportunity. Listen as we talk, how the black community is at high risk for ACEs what are some of the interventions and how the mental health field is pushing toward prevention of ACEs all together.
