She talks about how despite growing up in Pune as an "outsider" she never viewed it as such and actually came to love her status being able to speak in a language that others couldn't comprehend. 

By creating Kula Village, she is able to hold a platform for local and ethnic artisan groups to sell their unique crafts and produce.
