Episode 18 - Where Does Humility Come In? (Part 1)

48m · Thriving in the Transition · 17 Jun 01:19

Now this is one for the record books!!!  I can't wait for you to hear this one as we talk about humility with Steve Reimann and Sarah Zadigan.  This one is so good that we made it two parts!!! Be sure to tune in next week for the the conclusion.

This is what we covered in part 1 of this 2-part conversation:

* The definition of “humility”

* The language of transitions

* Why humility is important in transitions

Here's a quick recap of our conversation on humility – up to this point:

+ The language we use frame humility and transitions is everything

+ Don’t spend too much time in your head – perceived problems tend to grow and expand

+ When you move focus from others – you focus on self

+ Distinguish personal or professional arena – humility can play out and be rewarded/received differently (intro)

+ You have to be aware of yourself, your community and your environments (intro)

Remember to tune in next week for the conclusion of this brilliant conversation around humility.  If you get something from this podcast please give us a rating of 5-Stars where ever you listen to your podcasts.  You can find full episodes of Thriving in the Transition on my website:  https://www.logiqconsulting.com/podcast

S3 E18 - On Getting Old

So this week I bring back our “On” series. This is where I talk about important transitions in my life and hopefully make them relatable to you and your transition. So, this is my birthday week! Feel free to send gifts, cards and well wishes. But no pressure! So, I figured with would be a great opportunity to share my perspectives on getting old. By no means is this an episode bemoaning the aging process or lamenting all the things that I didn’t do or didn’t accomplish – y’all know me better than that! But what this IS are my observations and changes related to me getting older mentally, physically and emotionally.

S3 E17 - Challenge Accepted!

So, I had a realization that I like to accept challenges. Accepting challenges allows me to improve, grow and learn. Accepting challenges is a way for me to get out of my comfort zone and keep making progress towards my overall goal of total world domination. Accepting challenges is also a way to test myself and to put new knowledge, skills and abilities into action. Lastly, accepting challenges is a great way to connect with people and PROVE that we have more in common that we do in difference.  So, I dedicate this episode to Barney Stinson, played by Neil Patrick Harris, from How I Met Your Mother.

Here are some of the benefits of accepting challenges:

  • Opportunity
  • Personal satisfaction
  • Increased community
  • Creation
  • Fun and adventure or The Newness

S3 E16 - The Last Dragon

Earlier this week I was channel surfing and I came across of my favorite movie’s, Barry Gordy’s the Last Dragon. Then it dawned on me that that movie was indeed all about transitions. And even more specifically, it was about knowing without knowing and action without thought. How do you actually know when you’ve made it to the next level? How do you know when you’ve achieved your goal?

This week we talk about the traits of the Last Dragon:

  • Hard work and dedication
  • Curiosity
  • Perseverance
  • Service to self and others
  • Humility
  • Continuous learning
  • Self-belief or confidence
  • Community
  • Bravery
  • Well-defined destination
