💍Wives Chat: The Gift of Singleness in Marriage

16m · 🌿 The Between the Moment Podcast · 13 May 01:46

What if your singleness is a gift to your marriage?

Have you ever heard that before? It is easy to dive into the self-help books or conferences that talk about how to relate to you spouse (which are helpful), but I argue cannot give you the greatest gift in your marriage.

Our singleness is one of if not the greatest gift we give to our marriages.

Our individual design, gifts, strengths, weaknesses, experiences and lessons applied and learned- they are a  gift to the oneness of marriage.

And the gift isn't in the presence of these elements alone. The gift also lies in how and when they were forged. These anchors of the heart and being were embedded long before we became one with another.

We cannot forsake or diminish them. They are a gift- to ourselves and all of whom we are connected.

If you have walked with the Lord for some time, the first chapter of Genesis can be treated like the ABC song- you can sing it in your sleep and recognize it anywhere- and yet miss the fundamentals it teaches.

Until you're forced to look at it again.

Genesis opens the story of God with context for the beginning of creation and life as we know it. It also exposes the character of God in ways that we argue we have digested and mastered (for those readers who are believers). God declares Himself innovative, intentional, loving, creative and vibrant. He shows his character to be full of dignity and pleasure. He shows himself benevolent- to give to us that image in unique ways.

He then sweetly declares, "It is good".

Before we express our beautiful selves in marriage, motherhood, sisterhood- he sees us as good.

Today's episode looks at this beauty and leave us with a great challenge. Feel free to check out the LinkTree with more books, resources and other ways to connect for more on BTM and this topic.

📣Imposter Syndrome| Pace & "Saying the Same Thing"

Do you ever feel like you are an imposter? 🤔

Yes you! The one who has a lot of experience, advice and even expertise in a given field or hobby. It's so easy to operate in a way that says that what you have to offer others is not worth anything. We easily measure it against the ideals of others or other versions of life in our heads- all comparisons are dangerous and harmful! They easily rob us the joy of being a light and bridge for the flourishing of ourselves and others.

This episode, we bring up two key ways we operate in the imposter syndrome: pace and "repeating the expertise". There is an ease to hate our pace and despise the repetition it takes for people in our sphere of life to be moved by information. Do you really believe you are not placed where you are with what you have for a reason? Combat the lie! Click listen! Let's chat & wrestle.
