Unspoken Heroes...An Educator Talks About Distance Teaching

1h 0m · Phenomenally You · 21 May 06:31

Welcome to Phenomenally You! The one woman internet radio program that is rooted in positive, empowering, and insightful conversation. Each week the host, Nicole Quinlan, talks about topics that are relevant to seeking and acknowledging happiness that is rooted in self. On May 19th at 8pm PST my guest is Paul Murphy. He is a teacher at Junipero Serra High School in Gardena California, where my daughter attends school. While working remotely during the pandemic my daughter has been attending school remotely. I know that parents have been faced with the challenge of making sure their children are doing what they need to do in terms of education and also coping as well as possible during the Pandemic. Teachers have also been challenged with educating their students from afar. Technology is a wonderful thing, but I am pretty sure 6 months ago teachers had no idea they would be educating students using technology like Zoom, Google classroom, and more. Mr. Murphy is the Director of Campus Ministry, the Christian Service Coordinator and a Religion teacher. He not only teaches my daughter, but also taught  my niece who is a Junior at Arizona State University as well. The students at Serra love Mr. Murphy, who has continuosly challenged them academically and encouraged them to be accountable for the kind of people they want to be in the world. Mr. Murphy tells his students "some of you will love me, some of you will hate me, but if you don't have an opinion about me, I haven't done my job" --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nicole-quinlan/support

Freedom

On this episode of the Phenomenally You podcast I talk about living our lives free of the judgment around us. This topic was inspired as I have been reading the 5 Levels of Attachment by Miguel Don Ruiz Jr. Although we all have our idea of what freedom is, Mr. Ruiz provided a definition of freedom that caught my attention and touched me in a way that I had to speak about it. I hope you enjoy the episode! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nicole-quinlan/support
