The Power of Writing

I breach the surface on the powerful subject and writing and just how important I feel it is and how it's helped me improve my life since I started taking it more seriously. I go through a few recommendations, some examples of things that have helped me and how to get started even on a small scale.

Hope you enjoy the segment and it brings something for you in your life.

Long Term Goals

I go through my experiences of goal writing (my short experience on dedicated goal writing haha). And talk about the next level of truly looking down the road, two or three or five or even ten years down the road.

Who do you want to be? What do you want to be doing? What accomplishments do you want to have? And how are your monthly / short term goals set up to support the long term ambitions?

The episode Ep. #21 | Power of Writing, Long Term Goals from the podcast Trevor Sean Audiocast has a duration of 35:30. It was first published 10 Jun 06:33. The cover art and the content belong to their respective owners.

Ep. #27 | Isolate Yourself and Work

Episode #27.

This is a docu-series on growth/self-improvement and my experiences for building a valuable life.  Here are my notes for this week – Check me out on Twitter and Instagram for other things going on -  @trevorsean12

The power to be alone:

I've thought a lot about the power of being alone and forcing yourself to work and come up with your own solutions without an outside influence.

I think it's a great skill to be able to work with others, but in my case, it clouds my decisions and I really need to figure out what I want and what direction I want to go.   Forcing myself to be alone and work through these things has helped a lot in building my own confidence and also helping me clarify my vision for what I want to do.

Outside Resources:

I talk a ton about different books, videos, podcasts, talks, etc that have really helped me in my life to figure things out. Still think they're very important.   But, there will come a time when you have all the information that you really need, and the only thing left to do is work and make something happen.

I've definitely fallen into a trap of continuing to learn but not actually applying. Although it feels like I'm doing something because I'm reading, taking notes, re-reading my notes; I'm still not actually accomplishing anything.

There's a lot of power in going through things and ultimately, even with all the resources you've used, you still have to do it on your own.   No one is coming to save you. We each have our own responsibility to make our lives happen.

Ep. #25 | Sharpen Your Focus, Work to Finish

Hey crew - Episode #25 here.

This is a docu-series on growth/self-improvement and my experiences for building a valuable life.  Here are my notes for this week – Check me out on Twitter and Instagram for other things going on -  @trevorsean12

Sharpen Your Focus

We're all interested in a lot of things, but not allowing yourself to dive deep into a project can really hurt you long term.

Five big things I've taken away from narrowing my focus to 1-2 projects instead of 5+:

1 - Hard to be consistent working on more than 3 things.

2 - If you have too many projects, you can't ever spend the necessary time to get really good at one of them.

3 - Shallow work is very unrewarding.

4 - If you're not an expert at anything, your value and skills are shallow and easily replaced.

5 - A narrow, deep knowledge of something begins to expand out again into more creative avenues (once you do the work).

Work to Finish

I've been focusing a lot on finishing any type of work that I take on, putting emphasis on the work getting done rather than time spent on something.   This has changed my mind a lot around the importance of work and how to work effectively.

In Kobe Bryant's book, he talks a lot about understand what needs to be done and working until it's done.

A few quick notes about this:

1 - Important to have a strong work ethic and the value of completing something difficult.

2 - Whatever you take on, work till it's finished. (It's okay to take breaks or to work on something that spans a longer period, but set up your daily goals and work until that's complete)

3 - Know yourself. Don't do things you hate and set small, attainable goals to keep progressing.

Ep. #24 | Work Experiment Notes, Become Your Best Self

What up - Episode #24 uploaded

This is a docu-series on growth/self-improvement and my experiences for building a valuable life.  Here are my notes for this week – Check me out on Twitter and Instagram for other things going on -  @trevorsean12

Work Experiment Notes

Talking through my work experiment and what I learned through the process. Definitely helped me focus and see my progress along the way. Also, setting a designated time to just work on something and not necessarily complete it really helped take a lot of pressure off the actual work.

Become Your Best Self

Jordan Peterson talks about our own personal responsibility to become our best selves and how important that is in the world.   We each have our own potential to grow into and that not only benefits us personally, but has a profound and limitless effect on the world, in our communities, our families and friends.   And all it takes is just being a little bit better than yesterday and building that momentum. One thing that he says that I love, don't underestimate the power of the small growth - it adds up quickly once you get going.

Ep. #23 | Goals July 2021, Planning vs Action, Work Experiment

Hey crew - Episode #23 uploaded

This is a docu-series on growth/self-improvement and my experiences for building a valuable life.

Here are my notes for this week – Check me out on Twitter and Instagram for other things going on -  @trevorsean12

July 2021 Goals

Talking through monthly goals for July and some helpful reminders when writing them down and pursuing them.

Planning vs Action

I talk through the trap of over planning, over thinking, over analyzing and not doing anything.   Planning and preparation is great, but it only counts for 10%. We have to go out and do something.

Work Experiment

I've been thinking and talking a lot about resources and information to help live a better, more meaningful life. With that, I think it's important to put it into practice.   I came up with this idea for this work experiment as a way to lean into a project that you want to do and put some meaningful hours towards it to make something happen.   Excited to document the experience and go through the process.
