#SayHerName

Breonna Taylor. Oluwatoyin Salau. Nakia Crawford. Just a few names from a long list of Black Women who we cannot forget about. Black Women are often forgotten, left behind, and failed.

On this episode, Zaira Sylvain, Administrative Assistant for the Office of the Provost at Ithaca College joins us to discuss the importance of listening, supporting and advocating for Black Women. The additional burden of Black Women being overlooked, ignored and viewed as disposable has plagued us for way too long. Zaira discusses how her experiences, along with the inadequate healthcare for Black Women is what motivates her to be the representation that matters. Tune in to learn more about Zaira's story, how we can support her, and learn to support other Black Women as well.

Episode 9: no Pressure, No Growth.

No pressure. No Growth.

On this episode, we discuss how pressure shows up in our daily lives. Although everyone experiences pressure in their own way, the way it impacts us may have some overlapping traits. We also can't speak on pressure, and not tie it to our identities. Is pressure inevitable? Is it self inflicted? Is all pressure bad? No matter how you responded to those questions, just remember there's always a lesson to be learned. Instead of "why me" .... ask yourself "what is it teaching me?".

How does pressure show up in your life?

Episode 8: Women Ball Too

Women Ball Too. On this episode, we catch up with youth basketball coach, trainer, and advocate for women's hoops, Tyreik Mosley. Tyriek walks us through his story, what he wants to be known for, and why is it so important for him to help others when he can. As a women's basketball coach, Tyriek explains how "hoop" fans need to also support women's basketball on all levels, and provides tangible ways to support womens' hoops. Although our conversation was personal and focused on women hoops, it is important to KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY when it comes to all women's sports. As always, thank you for being a part of the journey! Episode 7: Family Ties

How does your family look?

This episode we dive into our family structure, and what it looked like for us growing up. The way we grow up directly influences who we are, and our perspective on life. We can't talk about influence without including the impact of pop culture and the portrayals of black families through sitcoms, and music specifically. Reflecting on the very iconic scene from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, how did that sit with you? We touch on this as well.
