As women, we often put things off and wait for the perfect time to do what matters to us, often at the expense of our personal dreams and aspirations.

We are all capable of going after what we want, sometimes we just have to get out of our own way, and boldly say yes to ourselves.

As we get older, it feels like there are limitations placed on what we should do - that we can’t accomplish amazing things because it’s too late and it’s not the “right time”.

The truth is, there’s never a perfect time to do what we want, and with the right framework, we can make our big idea happen. Bevin Farrand, the founder of the Take the Damn Trip Movement, has a journey that truly reflects this.

What is the story behind the movement? How do we reframe what we want in our lives so that it becomes a priority? What’s the difference between asking for permission and asking for support and why is this distinction so important?

In this episode, Bevin and I have a powerful discussion about what holds us back from achieving our big idea and how to overcome those barriers.

Guest Bio

Bevin Farrand is the founder and CEO of Collaborate.Work, which supports small businesses and entrepreneurs in developing and executing strategies to take their revenue to 6- and 7-figures. In 2019, after unexpectedly losing her husband 5 days after they returned from a whirlwind trip to France, she founded the Take the DAMN Trip movement.

Her DAMN framework has inspired hundreds to connect with the people that they love, do the “crazy thing” that makes all the difference and, when given a choice, to take the damn trip.

Why Taking the ‘Tougher’ Road Can Produce the Ultimate Life Experience in Your 50s w/Sherry Ott

Remember when you were young and it felt like you could do ANYTHING you set your mind to? Travel, learn a new skill, start a completely new career - it all felt possible.

But in our 40s, 50s, and 60s, we become skittish about trying anything that will challenge us. Well, it’s time to call BS on whoever said aging means slowing down! Why age ourselves prematurely by letting our age define us?

Today, we are joined by my good friend and travel connoisseur, Sherry Ott. Years ago, Sherry did something scary, different, and downright amazing. She left her well-paying, awesome job and moved out of her apartment to travel the world solo.

Sherry’s going to help you spark the fire and give you key strategies to go after your dreams, push through discomfort and fear, and do the really big thing we’ve always wanted to do (even if we’ve lost touch with it).

Sherry will share:

  • The story of her own big leap into the unknown and the brave first steps she took to make sure she followed through on her goal.
  • Why accomplishing tough things makes us more confident and expands what we’re capable of.
  • How to spark your imagination and start defining what you want to do.
  • The power of looking at your old photos (for inspiration, not to mourn your youth!)
  • 3 strategies to go from sparking your idea to getting things in motion.
  • How to get out of the wormhole of worst-case scenarios, and see the positive possibilities and unexpected outcomes of stepping out of your comfort zone.
