Unfortunately getting clean and finding recovery does not mean we are exempt from the ebbs and flows of life. When life gets lifey in recovery, I find myself in a dark place from time to time; the good thing is that I don't let myself stay there. In this episode I'll discuss my struggle over the past few months and how I have been able to get through it without picking up a drug or a drink.

This episode touches on both positive and negative experiences I've had with treatment programs including what has worked and what hasn't worked, as well as ways in which I believe treatment for addiction could be improved to create an environment that fosters more success in recovery.

This is from a LIVE episode I did on my YouTube channel.. a little different than my typical podcast episode, but I hope you all enjoy xoxoxo As a society we LOVE to point fingers and blame people or shame them for their problems. Instead of trying to take into account the struggles/trauma/genetics/developmental issues, etc., that might have led someone down a dark path, we dehumanize them to make ourselves feel better about their suffering (especially if we might have played a role in someone's suffering). NO ONE is to BLAME..we all have the freedom to make our own choices, but to remain in denial about the fact that we don't all impact each other is ignorant and completely delusional. Let's start taking responsibility for our part in interactions and acknowledge that we CAN and SHOULD do BETTER.. AND help people rather than kick them when they're down.. bc it might be YOU struggling one day and wouldn't you want a hand reaching out to you offering you help rather than judgment??.. **As always, I am NOT a licensed therapist and this should not be substituted for therapy or taken as advice/suggestions** If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available.
