More Than A Soldier

42m · True War Stories: Mission Report · 23 Aug 16:00

Daniel Annechino tells the story of his uncle Angelo, who revealed the truth of his military service to his family on his deathbed. During his service as a US Army Ranger in World War II, Angelo was captured by the Nazis, marched into the Colosseum in Rome to be executed in front of an audience, saw his best friend die, escaped through the floor of a moving train, and hid in the home of an Italian family (developing a romance with the family's daughter) before he could try and make it back home.
