EP 27 - Mental Health and Real Moments with Jessyka Hagen

21m · COFFEE + CONCEALER PODCAST · 02 May 19:11

I had the pleasure of talking to Jessyka Hagen of Milkstains and Meltdowns today and we had such an amazing chat.

Jessyka is ultimately known for her fiery personality and real rawness about the hard stuff like mental illness and postpartum anxiety. She started her blog called Milkstains and Meltdowns to have a place to show what was going on in her world. She was diagnosed with Postpartum Anxiety and at that time there was nothing for information on it. She decided she would write what was going on in her life and that post went viral and was shared by Scary Mommy, Pregnant Chicken and The Huffington Post. Clearly the world needed this info! From then she has been an advocate and open book about any of her struggles and I know her followers adore her for all that she is!

You dont want to miss this episode!!

EP 49 - Residential School Trauma with Mary Bigbull

{EPISODE DISCLAIMER:

This is definitely a horrific incident to discuss and it comes with an episode warning as we discuss abuse, neglect and topics that are horrific in nature. Listener discretion is advised}

Hey babes!

Tonight we are talking openly and raw with Mary Bigbull who is an indigenous woman who is telling not only her story but generations of her family's side of their story. Her family endured the hell that was residential schools and how it can lead to inter-generational trauma and how even Mary who didn't herself attend any of the residential schools, is dealing with the trauma of what happened. This episode is a hard one to listen to but it needs to be discussed and all we ask of you is to educate yourself on all things on this topic and lets be the change in a time that requires one so bad.

Hey babes!

Today we caught up as Jane moved to the US! We chat life and a few issues that are dear to our heart this week.

We discuss bullying as full grown women and how awful the internet can be. We discuss what we feel about it and how we can try to change how people treat each other. We also discuss the horrific discovery of the 215 children found in Kamloops at the residential school there. This is definitely a horrific incident to discuss and it comes with an episode warning as we discuss abuse, neglect and topics that are horrific in nature.

We are going to be having an amazing lady on the podcast who has first hand experience through her family whom have been in the residential school system and will be giving us a look into this terrible tragedy. Stay tuned for that episode.
