'Hearts and Hands' by O. Henry is a story about two acquaintances who meet on a train. When Mr. Easton encounters Miss Fairchild, he is handcuffed to another man. One passenger on the train, however realizes that things are not as they seem.

This is a story of two boys: one studies books about languages and other is idle. Other boy has one quality, he sees at people's faces and tells about what're their problems etc..

It tries to reinforce the idea that books and knowledge from books is not true wisdom.
