Five Mile Radius is an extremely fascinating and uniquely intentional architecture studio that focuses on using locally sourced materials. Five Mile Radius is not only pushing the boundaries of materials used in their visually stunning projects, but also challenging the ethics and practices typically used in architecture firms. During this episode Claire takes us through the core ethos of what they do and how it revolves around the focus of being interested in creating buildings that are born of their environment. We talk about how by developing a deep level of understanding for the community, materials and local skills, each project Five Mile Radius takes on is a practice in understanding and gaining respect for the things around them and rejecting the traditional trajectory of building something as fast, cheap and big as possible.
